Middle Chinese needed. 24.29.228.33 02:26, 20 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

(Fanqie reading: , equivalent to "cháo" in modern pinyin) is used mainly as a verb in Middle Chinese with one of the following meanings and is not used as a suffix.
  1. to have an audience with the emperor
  2. to perform the morning ceremony
  3. to go to court
  4. to wish elders or seniors good health
  5. to visit a senior person
In Classical Chinese, the word is understood to refer to the Tang dynasty. Hence, the Middle Chinese reading has been omitted from this entry. KevinUp (talk)
