@Justinrleung Should we include this as a synonym? They both translate to the same word in English, but their use is not interchangeable in Chinese. For instance, you can say 整天 but you cannot say 全天, but on the the other hand, you say 全身 but not 整身. And maybe I'm wrong on this, but to my knowledge, even in Cantonese, people say 全身, while 成身 sounds awkward to me. The dog2 (talk) 16:21, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

@The dog2: I think we should restrict this module to 整 + classifier (which means 全身 would not be included here). In Cantonese, 全 works sometimes (全日, 全棟樓), so perhaps it could be included for Cantonese? @RcAlex36, Wpi31, any thoughts? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 16:41, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Also, 成身 works for me, e.g. 成身都生嗮瘡. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 16:43, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: Sure, we can have two separate modules then. I know in Hokkien 規 is used in both circumstances. Maybe in Cantonese it's just a matter of which is more common, which I why I typically use 成日 and not 全日. And likewise, I will say 全身痛 instead of 成身痛. But if you use a classifier in Cantonese, can you say 全個x instead of 成個x ? The former is not something I would typically say. The dog2 (talk) 16:48, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@justinrleung: Agree that this should be limited to 整+classifier (and that it would be any classifiers in general, with maybe a few exceptions). I don't think we should add 全 for Cantonese as it cannot be universally used with any classifier in general, and it has a slightly different meaning from 成, in Cantonese the former implies an encompassing or complete "whole" and the latter is a generic "entire" (or at least this is how I see it). – Wpi31 (talk) 16:57, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Wpi31: Could you give an example of the difference between 全 "whole" and 成 "entire"? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 17:31, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
全(個)世界 is the entire world, including every single people and every single object in the world, while 成個世界 is more figuratively the entire world. – Wpi31 (talk) 01:39, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Also 全世界 does not need a classifier, while 成個世界 sounds weird without the classier. The dog2 (talk) 17:28, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung Do you think this should be in the table for Cantonese? And also maybe Teochew 咸 which I won't be surprised if it's related to Cantonese 冚 in some way. In fact, I wonder if 咸 is the 本字 of 冚. The dog2 (talk) 08:04, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@The dog2: Maybe, but I'll ask a few more people. @RcAlex36, Wpi, do you think should be added here? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 16:56, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: And do you think Cantonese 冚 and Teochew 咸 are the same word? The dog2 (talk) 17:24, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Teochew

@The dog2 Did you have a source for this diff? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 13:13, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung: She uses it in this video. When you see the subtitles say 整个直播 she says 咸個直播. The dog2 (talk) 13:29, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: Are you referring to the part where she says "ham gao gai diên ho gai si ping" (subtitles read 整个账号)? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 13:45, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: Now that I'm on my computer, the timestamp for what I cited is 0:11. I couldn't see the timestamp on my mobile phone. But yes, she also uses it in the situation you mentioned, timestamp 0:26. The dog2 (talk) 14:08, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: Ah, thanks! — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 14:47, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
