Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to List of Romanian artists appears to have added a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Codrin Platon. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:37, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Drm310,
I understand why one might jump to conclusions about a potential conflict of interest, given the similarity of surnames and the fact that we come from the same region. However, I can assure you that there is no relation or connection between myself and Obie Platon. I have been following his career for years, and I am still surprised that there isn’t a single article about him on Wikipedia, unlike others in his field.
Thanks Codrin Platon (talk) 16:17, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarifying that. You should have a look at WP:BASIC and WP:NARTIST to see what criteria must be satisfied for an article about this individual to be accepted. I noticed that several of your sources are either the artist's own website, or interviews with him where the content comes directly from him. Both are considered primary sources, which cannot establish someone's notability. Significant coverage from reliable, third-party sources is required to establish someone as notable. You should also look at Wikipedia's policy on biographies of living people, as the standards are high. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:24, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I totally understand your points, but what about this article on Adrian Ghenie? I can provide additional examples to support my argument. Why some articles can be visible on Wikipedia while others can't? Codrin Platon (talk) 16:30, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What you describe is the "other stuff exists" fallacy. English Wikipedia has over seven million articles; some exist that maybe should not, others should exist but don't yet. Therefore, you can't argue that your article should be allowed based on the presence (or absence) of other, similar articles. Each article must stand on its own merit.
Articles are edited continuously, and their quality may improve or degrade over time. It's impossible for Wikipedia editors, who are all volunteers, to monitor every article and ensure it maintains the proper standards. If you believe that the Adrian Ghenie does not merit inclusion, I'd be willing to check it. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 17:12, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Obie Platon moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Obie Platon. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it is promotional and reads like an advertisement. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. ... discospinster talk 17:53, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Obie Platon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on Draft:Obie Platon, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
