Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from History of television into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. —Matrix(!) Image galleries

[edit]

I noticed that you moved several images from various locations in the articles into a gallery in Lunar Prospector and Diogo Cão. Please be aware that the policy at Wikipedia:Image use policy#Image galleries discourages the use of image galleries, and states, Generally, a gallery or cluster of images should not be added so long as there is space for images to be effectively presented adjacent to text. I have accordingly reverted your changes. - Donald Albury 16:29, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There's not enough space for all the images I added to be presented adjacent to the text. And they are relevant to aspects mentioned in the article (they are not simply random images). On the Cão article they illustrate markers placed on each voyage, as mentioned in the text. On the Lunar prospector article they illustrate the mission profile, again as mentioned in the text.
I don't think that a 5 to 7 image gallery is too much. My understanding of Wikipedia:Image use policy#Image galleries is to discourage dumpring dozens of images into a single gallery at the end of the article, not small galleries directly related to sub-sections.
Is a series of images running along the right side of the article (or left and right "sandwich") really preferable ? Honest question, I really want to improve the articles and follow style guidelines. 4throck (talk) 07:59, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You moved images from text to galleries, which is counter to the policy. There is no necessity to add images to an article that already has several images. As I have objected to your moves, I suggest that you start a discussion on the talk page and seek consensus to make any similar changes in the future. Also, please continue any discussions about the article on the the article's talk page, rather than my talk page, so that other editors will be more likely to be aware of them. You can notify me when you want my attention on the article talk page by using {{ping}}. Donald Albury 12:37, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
