Name
[edit]What's the origin of the name Prahran? --Singkong2005 15:27, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- In 1837 George Langhorne named the area Pur-ra-ran, a compound of two aboriginal words, meaning "land partially surrounded by water." When he informed the Suveyor-General, Robert Hoddle of the name, it was written as "Prahran."

Notable people
[edit]I was reading the article on Bruce Kingsbury, and out of curiosity clicked on the link to the town in which he grew up, Prahran, Victoria. I noticed that his name was not included in the list of Prahran, Victoria#Notable people, and I wondered if anyone thought it would be a good idea to add his name to that list. Promotional imagery
[edit]There is a photo of a Lamborghini in the landmarks section that contains a promotional watermark. The image is of no relevance to the article or section and as far as I can tell appears to be a means of promoting the photographers work. Other contributions from the photographer are similar in nature.
Do others agree that the photo should be removed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Travel193 (talk • contribs) 00:57, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
Pronunciation
[edit]The article currently says the pronunciation is /prəˈræn/, with "Pran" being a colloquialism; however it seems that most locals write "Prahran" and say /præn/ or /prɑːn/; also, Yarra Trams pronounces the Prahran Station stop as /præn/ and Metro Trains /prɑːn/. Pran Central seems to be the only use of the written spelling "Pran". Do we have an authoritative/well-researched source for any pronunciation? Leigh Brenecki (talk) 00:35, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
