Questionable accuracy
[edit]This article talks only about the Reagan administration's effects on mergers and acquisitions law, but it says nothing about the actual content of the guidelines. While I am certainly not a Reaganite, I think this article should be fleshed out a bit to explain what the actual USDOJ/FTC merger guidelines actually are. --Eastlaw 07:41, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay, here are some links which will serve as useful references for improving this article:

- 20th anniversary of merger guidelines-DOJ
- Comments of FTC international antitrust coordinator Debra Valentine

Under construction
[edit]I have been rather busy of late, but I am slowly but surely building this article into something which will be relatively good. Please be patient while I add information. --Eastlaw 05:33, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Copy & paste from FTC
[edit]Apparently, User:Mr kc copied and pasted a bunch of information from the Federal Trade Commission webpage. This is not a copyright violation, because such information is public domain as a work of the U.S. government. It does, however, require cleanup. --Eastlaw (talk) 23:00, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed that, and instead moved the URL to the "External links" section, which I also took the opportunity to reorganize a bit. Please use the {{copypaste}} template with care. That template transcludes Category:Possible copyright violations, and causes the page to be reported there as a possible copyright violation to be investigated. -- TJRC (talk) 22:41, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Other jurisdictions also have merger guidelines
[edit]This article is very focussed on the US. Other jurisdiction, including the European Commission, also have merger guidelines. Should they be treated in this same article? --213.219.165.8 (talk) 20:08, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
- Probably not. The subject of the article is the Department of Justice merger guidelines. Adding info about other jurisdictions would be on a different subject.
- That being said, the article is, I think, misnamed. It would be better titled "Department of Justice merger guidelines." If another country's DoJ has merger guidelines, and an article discusses them, then it should be further renamed to something like "U.S. Department of Justice merger guidelines."
- I'd suggest that if you have content for, for example, EC merger guidelines, write that article. This one should be renamed, and if there are both articles, either a dab page should be created for "merger guidelines," or theyt should be disambiguated via hatnotes.
