[edit]There is a confused effort (written mostly by me) to deal with the recording bans under ASCAP and Broadcast Music Incorporated, but lots more needs to be said, both in those places and here, and in an article on the bans. I think what you'll fiind under the two rights organization s is probably not particularly correct. Ortolan88 19:40 Mar 16, 2003 (UTC)
"... – insist on live musicians."
[edit]I don't know if Petrillo coined the slogan, "Help keep music alive––insist on live musicians," but it's a phrase that entered my consciousness when he was in office. And it's still relevant. See, for example, www.buglesacrossamerica.org for what motivates that organization. "... – I have a picture of Mr Petrillo."
[edit]If someone could add it. I would be most grateful. As far as I know the picture is public domain and no one owns the rights to it.

Petrillo and Segregation
[edit]This article says that Petrillo was ousted from the union for opposing integration. That may be so, but it should be followed up with the information that in 1966 he was back working for the union, and his job was to promote integration of various locals around the country, according to the NYT, April 23, 1966. https://www.nytimes.com/1966/04/23/archives/petrillo-quietly-battles-musicians-segregation.html Corrado1940 (talk) 11:06, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
