Etymology
editYojijukugo (四字熟語), probably ultimately from written Chinese 貪官污吏/贪官污吏 (tānguān-wūlì). Analyzable as a compound of 貪官 (tankan, “greedy official”) + 汚吏 (ori, “corrupt official”).
May be read as donkan ori instead, using the kan'yōyomi of don for the first character. However, the straight kan'on reading of tankan ori is the most common.
