Sydney FC
editHi, the changes you are making are well intentioned but please make sure you are improving things. Changing "Sydney FC" to "Sydney" or "Tokyo FC" to "Tokyo" is not helpful as there are many teams in Sydney and Tokyo, so removing the full club name makes the listing less accurate and more confusing. Adding the UN or EU flag to unattached players is not at all relevant, please do not do it under any circumstances. Camw (talk) 23:32, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Nicknames
editPlayers known by his nickname should contain only the name, no surname or full name appears.--Gringoladomenega (talk) 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- Give me a good reason for that.
- It's actually common practice. Many Brazilian players have an article at their full name but only use their piped, single name in rosters. Camilo Sanvezzo is one that comes to mind during his time in Vancouver. I don't think there's a MoS on this, it's simply common practice, and certainly not worth edit warring over. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:45, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- However, the nickname should be supported at the subject's article or somewhere in the club article. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:49, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- It is common in Portuguese-speaking languages (specially because sometimes they have quite large names, FE: Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima) and fairly common in Spain, not that much outside of those places, at least not that much in official lists. Personally they tend to look ridiculous but okay, If there's some sort of consensus, I'll stop fighting that.

Cavs-Hornets trade
editHi. That Cavs-Hornets trade has not been completed / made official and won't be until July 10. If you read this again, it states "Report: Hornets send Powell, Haywood to Cavs" and "A person familiar with the deal says". This is not an official press release – this is NBA.com copying an Associated Press article. The trade will happen, just wait. Cheers. DaHuzyBru (talk) 17:45, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Bosnia and Herzegovina football edits
editHello there. Since a few years ago I've started to edit the football pages of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the rescent time though, everytime I edit, you are deleting it and rewriting the "old" style. I have only one question and thats why you are doing this? (talk) 21 August 2014 (UTC)
If it wasn't for me then the page wouldn't even be half as good and interesting to read. I beg you please to stop deleting my edits or I will take this with someone who can stop you from edit again on severeal pages at Wikipedia. Thank you. (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.112.123.66 (talk) 22:06, 20 August 2014 (UTC) I'm going to assume you are talking about the players list. The only thing I'm asking is that if you are going to update the list, put a source to back up the change, just that, otherwise, it could be assumed it's someone vandalizing the page.Intruder007 (talk) 22:19, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
NBA signings
editHello- per WP:NBA free agent signings need to either be announced by the team or added to their official roster before changing the teams on WP. Otherwise the deal isn't official. Please wait until the team announces a signing, Wikipedia isn't a newspaper and doesn't need to break the news before it is official and some deals never materialize at all. Thanks for your patience and understanding in this. Rikster2 (talk) 05:05, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Monaco flag
editHi, It has come to my attention that you have change flag for AS Monaco players from france to monaco. Please do not to that, this has been dicussed several times and AS Monaco plays in france football association and represents france in international competition such as Champions League and are therfore considered a french team and they should have flag of france. You dont see catalan flag for every player from barcelona, it is same principle. Please read Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Monaco country flag as example and there are more discussions if needed. Thank you. QED237 (talk) 22:31, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

editHello, I'm EoRdE6. I noticed that you made a change to an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. edit You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Miroslav Raduljica. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount and can lead to a block, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection.
Please stop with the edit warring on this article. The inclusion of countries/leagues in the team history is neither mandated not forbidden. Both of you need to take a break here. Rikster2 (talk) 16:57, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- Curious thing, I was actually about to message someone about that. The original inclusion of countries/leagues were made because, I honestly find them helpful for the average reader of the wiki article who might not be familiar with those European/Asian clubs and might not be compelled to investigate them otherwise (that's why I added them to, well, all the rest of the NBA players that didn't have them). Anyway, it seems like that guy and I have reached an understanding. Anyway, I'll do my best to not go into those kind of wars in the future. Cheers! Intruder007 (talk) 17:10, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- Honestly, I see both sides of the issue. The issue with European leagues is that most of them relegate/promote teams so you can't always assume a team was in the top division when a given player competed for them, so in that case what do you link? The result was that European editors would add multiple entires for the same team linking the different leagues, etc. there are lots of pros and cons to this and no definitive consensus has been reached so it probably isn't something any of us should edit war over. I have a preference on this issue, but I don't generally change how it's done on articles for this reason. Rikster2 (talk) 17:17, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- Well, being fair, before adding the country of said team, I did my best to investigate in which league was that team at the time (hence several teams on other articles had, for example, "Spain 2nd" or "Spain 3rd", hell someone, I think on Luis Scola's page, had it like "Spain 1/2" because that team was relegated while Scola was playing, which is actually a nice idea). If you have been paying attention to my edits, I try to be as accurate as possible and I'd like to remain like that. And again, I did those articles having the average American sports' reader in mind (it's their local league and I bet the biggest chunk of those readers are American) and said reader won't have an idea where all those other teams come from and probably won't be compelled to click those articles anyway, with those edits the reader at least will have an idea where a player like Raduljica has been. Intruder007 (talk) 17:32, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hey, I'm not questioning your editing at all. I'm just saying you don't have consensus on your side on this one - there is no consensus on this format. You could have been banned for violating WP:3RR, as could the other guy. It's not worth it. I would say that you can't fully expect the audience for basketball articles to be American. There are many, many active editors in Europe as English is the connector in the EU. And for players like Raduljica, who were stars in Europe before coming to the US, you have to accept that he probably has a fan base beyond the United States. Take care. Rikster2 (talk) 18:11, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, I was not saying that all audience is American, but I bet a good chunk is and it wasn't as if it would've affected very much the European editors (except for that one), it was just more practical and clear. I won't edit Raduljica for the moment, but I maintain that it was better the other way. Intruder007 (talk) 20:16, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Country and D-League
editI don't think designations like 2nd or 3rd with a team's country is needed. It's overloading the infobox and most wouldnt know what it is referring to. Also, "D-League" is fine for the infobox, but it's first usage in prose should be the full blown "NBA Development League" the first time it is used per MOS:ACRO. Unless you think it is the common name, in which case you should get consensus to rename the article first.—Bagumba (talk) 02:53, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- I don't know, given that European teams have the tendency to be promoted and relegated, it's useful to know where have they been at the time, plus it does give you an idea, at least a slight one, of what kind level of basketball has the player been playing at, and, I believe, with the "2nd", "3rd" et. al. the reader can infer that we're talking about, well, levels. Who knows, I might have rose-colored glasses or something, but I do believe it does add useful information. Intruder007 (talk) 02:59, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

editThe lead is supposed to summarize the article, so its important to mention he was drafted by the pistons. Second of all, there was nothing wrong with the original ref. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 02:03, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- It's not entirely necessary to point out that he was drafted by the Pistons over there, not when we have the same info below, and even more important, because he hasn't been signed by them.
- About the original ref, I changed mostly because, at least since I started editing here, releases from the official pages tend to be given preference, but, I can add the other one as well. It isn't as if I'm looking for trouble or anything :PIntruder007 (talk) 02:25, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

- per WP:NBA free agent signings need to either be announced by the team or added to their official roster before changing the teams on WP. Otherwise the deal isn't official. Plus, your source only said that it was "according to a person close to the organization". Who? Who knows? Intruder007 (talk) 16:11, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

- Actually I didn't, buddy. I only wrote that the last team he played with were the Toronto Raptors. However, if you change his page to the Lakers, someone will change it back because the deal is not official yet (it will be till July 9). It's wikipedia policy. But don't worry, as long as the agreement between Williams and the Lakers stays in place, eventually, all the pertinent info will change. editYour recent editing history at Template:Toronto Raptors roster shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. —Bagumba (talk) 04:29, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Recent changes at Wales national football team indicate you may be involved in an edit war. Frequent reverting is fine in cases of vandalism, but this appears to be a difference of opinion. Please engage with the other party/parties on the article talk page to achieve consensus, rather than using edit summaries. It really isn't worth the possibility of being blocked. All the best, Daicaregos (talk) 17:22, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- I'll stay away from that page (I saw that page's history, the other guy seems to be quite aggressive and close-minded when it comes to edits). But anyway, help me with this doubt, about the current teams on NFT's pages, shouldn't the clubs be, up to date, at all times? That is actually the case in pretty much all national team's pages, except for that, to be honest. I honestly don't see any sort of upside of keeping information from, well, two months ago. Intruder007 (talk) 19:16, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late response. I agree with you, as you can see from the talk page, as do many editors who take the time and trouble to stop by to correct/update information that is out of date; they tend to get bitten pretty soon. I can see the logic of noting players' clubs on their call-up, and can see that it was sourced. Though their current club can be sourced easily too. I would favour the addition of an extra column noting their current club. However, the aggressive responses of the page owners makes it more trouble than it's worth to me for now. All the best, Daicaregos (talk) 11:09, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. I just saw the discussion you had with PeeJay back then. It seems like he was the same charmer back then. Anyway, I think the extra column would only clutter the page more (I'm more in favour with adding a source next to the new club). Problem is, the way seems to fight for any petty detail because... who knows why, for example, a fight he had with an anon for the jersey number, even after the anon placed a source. If he continues that behaviour (and even more, his rudeness), he probably will need to be reported. At least somebody like Daicaregos can be reasoned with.Intruder007 (talk) 14:28, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- Haha. Thank you ... though some may disagree. The extra column suggestion was really more of as intended compromise. Though you are probably right about its potential to clutter. Clearly something is wrong. One person after another comes to the page, reads it, and tries to correct it. I may do something when I have more time. Or perhaps the next time a good faith edit is reverted as 'vandalism'. We'll see. Cheers for now, Daicaregos (talk) 21:26, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

At least somebody like Daicaregos can be reasoned with.Intruder007 (talk) 14:28, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
RealGM.com
editThanks for creating all of the basketball articles for NBA signees. As a general rule, I'd advise against using RealGM as a source for place of birth. They usually just append the hometown from the college bio into that field, even though that almost never is the case. Hometown is simply where the player lives when the bio is active. I never use Real GM without a corroborating source, but I especially get suspicious if the stated place of birth is the same as the city the players' high school is in. Just a tip. Rikster2 (talk) 20:53, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

Five minutes to help make WikiProjects better
editHello!
First, on behalf of WikiProject X, thank you for trying out the WikiProject X pilot projects. I would like to get some anonymous feedback from you on your experience using the new WikiProject layout and tools. This way, we will know what we did right, and if we did something horribly wrong, we can try to fix it. This feedback won't be associated with your username, so please be completely honest. We are determined to improve the experience of Wikipedians, and your feedback helps us with that. (You are also welcome to leave non-anonymous feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject X.)
Please complete the survey here. The survey has two parts: the first part asks for your username, while the second part contains the survey questions. These two parts are stored separately, so your username will not be associated with your feedback. There are only nine questions and it should not take very long to complete. Once you complete the survey I will leave a handwritten note on your talk page as a token of my appreciation.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, Harej (talk) 17:49, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hello! Just sending a reminder to complete the survey linked above. (This is the only reminder I'll send, I promise.) Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions. Thank you!!! Harej (talk) 22:22, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

Free agents on NBA rosters
editI see you've re-added free agents to NBA rosters who have been removed by the teams from their official rosters at the team sites. Once the team has removed the player, Wikipedia should reflect that. Making the players easier to track for editors is not a valid reason. Rikster2 (talk) 15:06, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Article Requests
editHey, I just saw the work that you put up for Kyle Casey, and I got to say I'm really impressed by the work you put into it! So impressed, in fact, that I wanted to ask if you create a few new articles for some assistant head coaches as well. Specifically for the likes of Mike Longabardi and Nate Bjorkgren. The reason I'm asking for your help is because I honestly, for lack of a better term, don't know all that much about either one of these assistant coaches. I mean, I know Mike was a part of the Boston Celtics' coaching staff before he got hired by Phoenix, and Nate was the head coach for both the Iowa Energy and the Bakersfield Jam before being a part of the Suns, but I don't know much beyond that. If you can help out with that, I'd greatly appreciate it! If not, though, that's fine as well. - AGreatPhoenixSunsFan (talk) 04:21, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words! I'll give it a try with those two, but it's gonna take me a few days, mostly because most of the time, the info about coaching assistants is a little bit more scattered than the one about a player, however, it should be there. I'll start working on them tomorrow. Intruder007 (talk) 04:26, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- Intruder - just on that though. While you are doing a great job with creating articles for NBA player signings, you should be cautious with copy and pasting info straight from college bios or NBA press releases. While college bios are a great source for information, you should try to look elsewhere for secondary sources rather than purely primary sources i.e. college bios, NBA.com. I have expanded the way I create articles over the past two years as I used to do exactly what you are doing now. But if you look at Mario Little - I went ahead and re-vamped that article after it was flagged for copyvio. This could well happen to the articles you have created as well. Just giving you a heads up to maybe source from other outlets. Cheers. DaHuzyBru (talk) 04:50, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up! I honestly didn't know you could get flagged for that (at least not if you gave good, solid references), but, in retrospective makes sense. I'll try to revamp those articles as soon as possible. Intruder007 (talk) 05:08, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

- Sorry. I haven't forgotten, it's just that it's been a little crazy this week with all the signings (specially yesterday). Intruder007 (talk) 15:48, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

Birthplace vs. hometown
editRegarding Jason Washburn, there is a difference between a person's birthplace and their "hometown." The hometown is where the person lives (or lived at the time the profile was active), you can't assume they were born there. In Washburn's profile there is no birthplace listed, only a hometown. Here is an example of a college bio that shows birthplace. Usually it's in the personal section next to the DOB. The problem with RealGM.com is that they nearly always port the hometown from the college bio and call it their birthplace, which is often wrong. We need independent verification of birthplace or Wikipedia starts to become the source of incorrect information. Thanks. Rikster2 (talk) 13:30, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
- I can see where you're coming from. In Washburn case I had actually taken the bio as a point of reference instead of RealGM (you had told me about GM's unreliability in that regard). For what is worth, the sites on the list below cite Washburn's birthplace as Battle Creek. Were they based on original research, RealGM or they assumed the hometown and birthplace are the same? It's hard to know.
- MyFox8.com
- HoopsWorld.com
- WashingtonPost.com
- Cover.com
- NESN.com
- TheScore.com
- ProLineStadium.com
- Chicago Sun Times
- Rikster - while a lot are listing Battle Creek as hometown, others are also listing it as birthplace as well i.e. most notably Yahoo and Washington Post. I'd say it is highly likely that Battle Creek is correct as I can't find anything that states otherwise. If just one source listed something else, I'd be skeptical, but Battle Creek appears to be pretty unanimous. DaHuzyBru (talk) 14:17, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
Unless of course they are all porting the city (which is the same as his HS city) from the same place. I don't trust the Washington Post player profiles - just looking, they list J. P. Tokoto as born in Menomonee Falls, WI when he was born in Rockford, IL. So does Yahoo. The problem is that these people just grab info from other sources and take it as truth. I don't trust birthplace unless I find a credible source that clearly spells it out as such. Rikster2 (talk) 14:29, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
Training camp cuts
editHey mate. Look, that training camp cuts table doesn't need references in it. With however many cuts end up happening, the table it going to get too bulked up with references in there. Adding a references next to Tskitishvili's name already moves the ref down to a new line. Just the names in there is fine. DaHuzyBru (talk) 13:45, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Basketball birthplaces II
editHey - Julian Washburn is a great example of the problem of incorrect birthplaces that is rampant for basketball players. You added "Duncanville" and linked a source, but in the linked UTEP bio it clearly says he was born in Houston. Honestly, I am ALWAYS skeptical if the player's birthplace is the same as his HS city unless it's a big city. My recommendation is always default to the college bio and if place of birth isn't listed there then look for other sites. I also try to use some logic, like if there is no hospital in the town it's unlikely (though not impossible) they were born there. Not saying that's an issue with Duncanville, just trying to help. Rikster2 (talk) 13:25, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
- By the way, thank you for creating all of these articles. Your work is appreciated. Rikster2 (talk) 13:35, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
- Damn, I didn't see it said "Houston, Texas". I saw the summary above the article, which said "Hometown: Dallas, Texas" and I assumed it didn't have the birthlace so I looked for other sources. Thanks for catching that! And about the article creation, it's no problem. I like creating them once in a while. : ) Intruder007 (talk) 15:02, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

Santa Cruz Warriors numbers
editWhy are we considering a third-party site more "correct" than the team's official site? I'm not saying change it, D-Keague numbers are funky and change sometimes but typically the roster on the team's official site is the most reliable source for this. Rikster2 (talk) 11:17, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

Court-Side
editJust a heads up, Court-Side get all their content from Eurobasket. Nothing they have on their website is original content. Their wording and stats all come from Eurobasket, so whenever you see a post on their site, head over to Eurobasket and you'll find the corresponding post i.e. CS's Christmas post came after Eurobasket's. I know you know about Eurobasket, just letting you know how useless CS actually is. Eurobasket isnt always that trustworthy though – a lot of "player signing" posts happen after a player plays their first game for a team, as that is when the system picks up a new player and adds them to the roster. Not trying to dissuade you from Eurobasket, just from Court-Side :P DaHuzyBru (talk) 16:42, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

WP:ICONDECORATION: "An icon is purely decorative if it does not improve comprehension of the article subject and serves no navigational function." Cluttering a list of footballers and clubs with flags does not improve comprehension (in one case, it makes it worse) and is not used for navigation. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 11:00, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- In this case it's actually useful, given that on most cases, most of the footballers on that list are not known by everyone, the same with several clubs. With the flags present is easier to identify the local and foreign players and gives a better idea of the way each club spends their money. There is a reason all the transaction lists (except for this one) include flags, at least with foreign players and clubs, they do improve clarity. On Berwick's case, while they on the Scotish League Two, they are based on English territory, hence the English flag (same way, Swansea City, while playing on the English Premier League, has the Welsh flag here). However, if it's for the sake of clarity, I don't mind a compromise on that case and leave Berwick without a flag.Intruder007 (talk) 01:57, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

Salt Lake City Stars
editIf the Idaho Stampede relocated and changed names, then this shouldn't be a separate entry for players like Treveon Graham. See players who played for relocated NBA franchises (like Kevin Durant) for format. also, not sure if you created the SLC Stars article, but it shouldn't be a separate article. The Idaho Stampede article should have been moved (see Philadelphia 76ers/Syracuse Nationals,, etc) Rikster2 (talk) 00:31, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- Mmmh... that's how it was done with the Grand Rapids Drive after it was relocated from the Springfield Armor. But anyway, I thought that if it had the separate articles, I might as well save the extra space and just create the new entry and about the Salt Lake City article, I didn't create it. But if there's a consensus and the articles are merged, I won't oppose it and I'll just change them back. Intruder007 (talk) 00:37, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- Consensus is already to not break out relocated franchises into a separate entry. The dual article question is trickier. The different entries in the infobox are meant to show player movement. In these cases the player didn't move Rikster2 (talk) 00:40, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- Very well. The Idaho Stampede article will have to be deleted, though. Intruder007 (talk) 00:41, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- I dunno, it seems like folks have been creating these against the NBA team practice. They are so new now they'd be easy to merge, the new franchise names don't have much info that wasn't copied over anyway Rikster2 (talk) 01:05, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- I see, I see. No wonder people was getting confused. My guess is the Bakersfield Jam and Northern Arizona Suns should be one page as well. Intruder007 (talk) 03:01, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Rikster2 – To add to this, I am planning over the coming weeks to start merging duplicate articles. Per your example of Philadelphia 76ers/Syracuse Nationals, when I was going through past D-League champions, I see a lot of previous team names have their own article, which they shouldn't. Syracuse Nationals redirects to Philadelphia 76ers, just like Tulsa 66ers redirects to Oklahoma City Blue. Colorado 14ers, for example, shouldn't have its own article as it should be one with Texas Legends. However, I think exceptions can be made, like Seattle Supersonics has it own article rather than a redirect to Oklahoma City Thunder. Perhaps teams that have pre-D-League history could keep an article, like Dakota Wizards, but Huntsville Flight shouldn't have its own article, it should be one with Canton Charge. Bakersfield Jam should have be moved, not a new article created for Northern Arizona Suns. DaHuzyBru (talk) 08:44, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Cool! I'll keep an eye on this developments and update player pages accordingly. Intruder007 (talk) 16:15, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Now hold on there! These teams built up PLENTY of history as their own entities...do you have any source for consensus being to merge (or just your preferences)? Besides that, the Jam are in talks with the D-League about buying a new expansion team, so you might want to hold up until the season schedule's announced. Tom Danson (talk) 12:24, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Tom Danson: Per Rikster2 above, "Consensus is already to not break out relocated franchises into a separate entry." The Bakersfield Jam had a name change. The Northern Arizona Suns are not a new franchise. But, like I said above, perhaps some teams could keep their own separate article, like I did with Dakota Wizards. Will the Bakersfield Jam cause too much hostility? If so, undo the redirect. DaHuzyBru (talk) 12:34, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
- @DaHuzyBru:, I said a SOURCE, not hearsay...show me a link to the official Wikipedia policy, guideline, essay, or whatever page which officially has it DECIDED that that's what consensus is, and I'll accept it. Also, I believe the Idaho Stampede are also one of the exceptions to your rule, as they have assumed a solid, notable history prior to their relocation. Tom Danson (talk) 13:14, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
- It's just common practise, especially within Project NBA [9]. The only NBA exemptions I can find is Seattle SuperSonics and Vancouver Grizzlies. I'm just trying to streamline the D-League. Some past team names have articles, some don't. I was attempting to add some consistency to the D-League as it is all over the place and rather messy. Sure, Idaho Stampede would meet those "loose" guidelines I came up with for Dakota Wizards with them also having "pre-D-League history", but why Bakersfield? Sure, like you said, if the Jam become one again, then of course the info should be put back. But as for now, it is a past team name of the Northern Arizona Suns franchise, and why should it be a exemption like the Seattle SuperSonics? You probably don't like my reasoning, but the concept is sound surely? DaHuzyBru (talk) 14:07, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
- It's been discussed off an on for years at WP (see example) and on article Talk pages. To me the idea of having a separate page to commemorate 10 seasons of a minor league basketball team like the Jam seems silly. You can pretty much sum that up in a fully-fleshed out prose section. I think Danson has a point with the Idaho Stampede since that franchise pre-dates the NBDL (same is probably true of the Sioux Falls Skyforce). Rikster2 (talk) 21:03, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

While I am fine letting you all do your own thing with basketball team articles and won't stop you from merging (I created the NAZ Suns page but don't really follow basketball that much), it seems Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey does things a bit different by following WP:NOTPAPER. Most older or defunct professional teams easily pass WP:GNG to gain notability on their own merits without their current incarnation. It also can make things easier to sort (sometimes) by historical records and directing wikilinks to the direct mention of the subject (since the direct using #SectionTitle can be more easily changed via editing, and hence not work anymore, than directing to PageTitle). Another big factor that I saw with splitting would have been especially helpful when the St. Louis Rams moved back to LA. Instead of having weeks long edit wars and broken templates with IP and users changing things back and forth, it would have been much cleaner to just have re-activated the (at the the time theoretical) Los Angeles Rams pages from defunct to active and change the St. Louis Rams page to a defunct team. This is a situation you may see again as the Bakersfield Jam attempt to resurrect their team and want to retain team history (see St. John's IceCaps for a minor league hockey team that recently did the same thing). Yosemiter (talk) 12:40, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
- Yes hockey does many things differently than other sports projects. Check out Detroit Cougars (NHL) though. Rikster2 (talk) 21:03, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Rikster2: Detroit Cougars (NHL) isn't comparable as it wasn't a relocation or other major franchise change, it was simply a renaming (they also were called the Detroit Falcons (NHL) for a couple of seasons). You could nitpick against the Phoenix Coyotes, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, and Oakland Seals for the same thing. While we do things differently (and there are definite pros and cons to either way of handling relocations, I am in no way saying one is better than another), it does seem the Hockey Project has been pretty effective in having most major league and top level minor league franchise relocations that pass WP:GNG have their own pages. The fact that there are exceptions such as the SuperSonics and Vancouver Grizzlies (not to mention the young D-League having had split pages for some teams and not others for the last few years without the NBA Project saying anything) shows that maybe the concept or controls should/could be reconsidered. Yosemiter (talk) 02:49, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
- Noted. I just find it interesting that you hockey guys only seem to chime in on other sports when it's to try and push your consensus on others (and, yes, I read that you are "fine with letting us" and you "see the pros and cons.") Look, you guys have had your tight conventions for years and you haven't actually ever been interested in collaborating or changing based on recommendations from other sports. That used to bug me, but at a certain point I say fine, but give other projects the same respect. I can buy that there are some cases where an old franchise is worth expanding into an article. But it's tough to argue that the Bakersfield Jam is one of those cases. Unless they restart the franchise and are granted the history. In which case we can look at changing the structure because, as you point out, WP:NOTPAPER. Rikster2 (talk) 11:14, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

editHello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Peru national football team, did not appear constructive and has been or will be undone. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. - You're gonna have to forgive me, buddy, but none of the changes I made to the Peru page are what could be constituted as vandalism. None of them. The extra space between the text about the 23 players and the one talking about the last update of the caps and goals was put to make the text easier to read (it's specially useful for editors because you can find quicker when was the last time the caps and goals were updated). Second, putting the current squad by jersey number on international competitions is commonplace and makes it a little easier to follow. Third, it's again commonplace to have the words "current squad" and "recent call-ups" as the subtitles to the players' section. All the previous changes made the players' info clearer and easier to read, which in an encyclopedia is one of the main goals. I just don't see why is any of those changes "vandalism". Intruder007 (talk) 02:46, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- You have already been explained in the past to stop changing the section titles ([11]).
- Honestly that was not an explanation, anyway, let's not get carried away. Intruder007 (talk) 20:52, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- The FA articles are a model to follow, not the opposite way around. The current section titles are concise, easy to understand, and, therefore, do not need any further expansion. There is also no need to add spaces where none are actually needed. Have a good day.--MarshalN20 Talk 19:17, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, I won't change the titles nor the spaces, I will place the players by jersey number though, they're easier to understand that way and it isn't as if the squad is by any order. Intruder007 (talk) 20:52, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- You have already been explained in the past to stop changing the section titles ([11]).

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Edit summaries
editHey Intruder007. Your tireless efforts with NBA articles does not go unnoticed, keep up the good work! Can I make a suggestion though: perhaps change up the way you use edit summaries. The "..." means nothing and is simply not a summary of what you have done – you might as well leave the edit summary blank instead of the three periods. With this for example, a better edit summary could be "standardizing references" or "fixing references". Edit summaries should provide clarity so other users can tell what it is you have done. "..." forces users like myself to have a peep at what it was you just changed. I don't have any problems with your changes to John Lucas, I do however feel your edit summaries are not adequate, especially for large content additions like at Mo Williams. Just some friendly advice :) Best, DaHuzyBru (talk) 07:05, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

Standardizing citations
editHi Intruder007. I saw your edit at Kevon Looney with edit summary of "Standardizing references". I typically don't include accessdate in my citations when I supply an archive url already; there's already a backup included, so I'd argue there's not much benefit in knowing when the url was last working. Feel free to add accessdate if you insist, but it seems incorrect that you use the article's publish date as the accessdate. Per documentation for accessdate: Full date when the content pointed to by url was last verified to support the text in the article
. Also for this edit, it is from the San Francisco Chronicle, which is implied in the article by "Connor Letourneau is a San Francisco Chronicle staff writer". It seems overkill to list the domain name (SFGate.com) instead of the newspaper as the work, only to have to list "San Francisco Chronicle" as the publisher for clarity. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 09:27, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

G League rosters and 2-Way contracts
editI see that you've been removing two-way contract players from G League rosters (example). This is the first year we have had these types of players so we are kind of making it up as we go, but it seems like as long as the player is still under a 2-way deal he should appear on the G League templates too - we don't remove NBA players at the end of a season. At least it feels like this should be the case for 2-way players on teams who have a dedicated G League franchise (in other words, makes sense for the Mavericks, but maybe not the Blazers). I realize a number of 2-way deals have been converted at the end of the season, but for the rest shouldn't they appear on both templates until waived? Rikster2 (talk) 15:45, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry for taking this long to answer, it's been quite a hectic week. Anyway, I removed them because I assumed their contracts were up at season's end and wouldn't come back unless they were re-signed by said team (either to another 2-way or directly by the G League franchise) and since they were still playing for the NBA team, I kinda followed the same logic I did as when a G League player is poached by an NBA franchise or signs overseas; however, if you find more convenient to place them back in the templates (save the players whose contracts were removed the 2-way tag), I have no problem putting them back. Anyway, cheers. Intruder007 (talk) 23:26, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

List of Argentine football transfers winter 2018–19 moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, List of Argentine football transfers winter 2018–19, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. editIceland national football team
editHi! I noticed you changed the current squad around so in case of players having no caps, they're sorted by last name. While it doesn't really matter in which way they're sorted and they can be sorted as you sorted them, I'd just like to point out Icelandic name, in case you didn't know. Iceland is a patronymic society and consequently alphabetizes based on first names, not last names. Dalitidlamadur (talk) 07:21, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

editGasol
editHe’s an international player, not a US high school draftee. There’s a reason it’s said “Spain” for years - not like he’s a new player. Compare how his NBA.com roster entry compares to someone like Dwight Howard Rikster2 (talk) 02:40, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
That doesn't matter, if he played in the US HS system, it should be noted just the same way as we do when international players go through the US college system, even if they fo their NBA debut years after graduating college or being draft-elligible. As I said, again, look at the case of LiAngelo Ball, who went overseas out of high school two full years before even being drafted. Literally the only difference between those two cases is their birthplace and in this context it's not a significant difference. If you can prove a player went through the US HS or college system (and there is evidence in Gasol's page), independently of what the NBA page says. Intruder007 (talk) 02:55, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
And the Howard case is not exactly comparable since Howard was drafted and played in the NBA right after finishing HS. The LiAngelo Ball comparison is mord accurate. Intruder007 (talk) 03:08, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
- No, he shouldn’t. That might be the most US-biased answer I’ve ever heard. The NBA makes a distinction between US players who go directly to the NBA and international players who happen to attend HS in the US - Gasol was not drafted as a HS player. In a space where there is ambiguity, we go with the official NBA.con roster variable. There is no standard or consensus saying that if someone EVER went to a US HS that is what is shown on the NBA roster template. Rikster2 (talk) 03:09, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
- started a consensus discussion at the NBA project Talk page. Feel free to take part. By the way, LiAngelo Ball isn’t a valid comparison as it’s unlikely he will make a roster and doesn’t have a full nba.com entry. LaMelo Ball is more apt as there is a legit entry - his just says “USA.” Rikster2 (talk) 03:20, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

I saw that you made the page for Eli Pemberton and it got approved pretty quickly, I was just wondering if you had any tips or connections to get drafts approved or if there is something else I need to do? I made drafts for Selom Mawugbe and Ryan Taylor, also of the Santa Cruz Warriors, but I'm not sure how long it usually takes to get a draft approved. I'm kind of new here so I've been trying to figure out everything! Maskoff89 (talk) 18:32, 4 May 2021 (UTC) maskoff89
- Honestly I'm not sure how. I just made sure the Pemberton article had the infobox properly filled, was correctly sourced and had the proper category tag. I think Rikster2 would be more qualified to help you there.Intruder007 (talk) 23:30, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

editBasketball BLP infoboxes
editWhy are you changing the code of basketball BLPs to you preferred format? Template:Infobox basketball biography shows in what order the parameters should be listed. I am really getting tired of fixing your mess. – Sabbatino (talk) 20:44, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
- Because it allows for quicker, easier editing down the line, not just for me, but for anyone. Since league, team and number usually go hand in hand while editing them, it's just more practical to have them next to each other. Meanwhile, having the height and weight above "league", gives the infobox coding better spacing, again, allowing anyone to locate each of those sections quicker and easier. And since the order itself doesn't affect the infobox's performance and we already had that order before... Intruder007 (talk) 20:54, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
- Your personal preference does not mean that it is easier for everyone else. I tend to follow what the documentation says. – Sabbatino (talk) 17:31, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- And how "what the documentation says" is any easier? We already had the previous format before and it worked perfectly fine. Intruder007 (talk) 17:42, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

September 2022
editPlease do not move a page to a title that is harder to follow, or move it unilaterally against naming conventions or consensus, as you did to Sebastián Martínez (footballer, born 2001). This includes making page moves while a discussion remains underway. We have some guidelines to help with deciding what title is best for a subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Strictly speaking, if there has been previous discussion about an article's title, it shouldn't be moved unless there has been a new discussion demonstrating that consensus has changed. DrKay (talk) 13:46, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, apologies, I didn't see the talk page. The reason I renamed the page was because I was about to create a page for a second Mexican player with the same name, and I didn't want any future confusion between the two, so I went with what seemed at the time, standard practice.Intruder007 (talk) 13:55, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

TBT teams are not considered a primary team for a player
editBecause the TBT is not considered a league and does not actually have guaranteed contracts, they are not used as a players listed team and are not included in the infobox. Many of the players are still under contract with other teams. Any information has to be added to the body of the article. Quit violating WP:NOTBROKEN
editHello. I've told you this three times before: please stop changing NBA to NBA. You did it again today (see https://w.wiki/BEWc).
Redirects of the nature you persist in changing are acceptable as is. (The initialism "NBA" already leads directly to "National Basketball Association", so it is not a link that needs fixing.)
Again, for further information, see WP:NOTBROKEN or WP:DONOTFIX; take note of the sentence, "It is almost never helpful to replace with redirect."
Stop ignoring these very reasonable requests.

- There wasn't even a link there.Intruder007 (talk) 17:33, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- In this example, Intruder007 has changed "NBA" to "NBA". What is the problem with that, Moist hammer? Schwede66 19:24, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
Autopatrolled granted
editHi Intruder007, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Schwede66 19:42, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
Proballers.com as source for birthplace
editThat is not a reliable source for place for birth. It has never been assessed for reliability for this information and on review appears to take “hometown” and show it as birthplace nearly all the time (which is not how it works. Please leave place of birth blank if this is the only source. Players who sign in the NBA will show up soon on basketball-reference.com, which is generally a reliable source for place of birth. Thanks Rikster2 (talk) 11:40, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- Alrighty. I'll take it into account.Intruder007 (talk) 13:59, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
Waived players
editYou don’t have to remove the career start for the player, their career has started. Also, please don’t remove the “years1” and “team1” fields, just remove the info in them. Removing the fields makes it harder for other editors to update new teams when the player does ultimately land. Thanks Rikster2 (talk) 18:00, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- I've been removing the career start because sometimes a player may not sign or debut with another team until much later in the season, maybe the year after (for exaample, if there is an injury). I'll comply with the years and team fields.Intruder007 (talk) 18:05, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- Well, I am going to keep adding it back because especially players right now are being released to be signed by G League teams or other leagues before they start. Players who will debut in 2025 are a very small percentage of training camp cuts. The field can be amended in those cases Rikster2 (talk) 18:28, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- Sounds fair.Intruder007 (talk) 18:36, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- You've been removing those fields even since these messages. What gives? SportsGuy789 (talk) 16:16, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
