COI request

Re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Ricardo_Azziz#Edits_to_Consider

Hi, FeldBum!

Thank you for your changes.

I have answered your question # 9 about the InfoBox and added a suggested sentence to separate ASRM from SUNY.

Is there anything you need?

Thank you, Dan Martin [memdmarti] Memdmarti (talk) 21:19, 27 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, FeldBum for fixing the Infobox!

I added a new request ot the end of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Ricardo_Azziz#Edits_to_Consider

Is that reasonable there or do I need to put it in a new help me section or somewhere else?

Thank you, Dan Memdmarti (talk) 23:02, 5 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'll reply there too, but here's what you need to do:
  1. Clean up the page, removing any POV language, like "significant," "finally," "accomplished" and "thought leader." This isn't a bio crafter by the PR team; it's an Encyclopedia entry. We need to focus on the facts.
  2. Clean up the citations. We need third-party sources, not first-party like USG.edu or GRU.edu. No press releases either.
Once that's done and we can remove those other two tags, we can tackle the paid tag.

CV query

edit

Can I use a university site (primary source?) to reference a CV?

As an example, mine is linked from the UTHSC web site to my website: https://academic.uthsc.edu/faculty/facepage.php?netID=dmarti27&personnel_id=228428.

Mine is relatively short at 28 pages with 120 or more published references. Azziz's CV had 87 pages with 722 publications in 2014.

How is that much information referenced on Wikidedia without refering to a CV?

Thank you, FeldBum! / Memdmarti (talk) 15:03, 6 July 2020 (UTC) Memdmarti (talk) 21:44, 7 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, a CV on a university site is a first-party source on a first-party source, so it's definitely not going to work.
But the publications are good sources, even with you (or Azziz) as the author, so you can highlight some of those.
Any profile or bio of Azziz that mentions things from his bio, even if the reporter got that info from his CV, works. The assumption is that the reporter will fact his or her sources and and is thus more trustworthy that the first party himself/herself claiming something.
It may be tough, but that's what we need for citations. For example, https://memphismagazine.com/features/top-doctors2/ is a good source for you, even if much of that info is pulled from your CV. --FeldBum (talk) 14:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, FeldBum!

My younger, 39-year-old son likes articles like the one you found.

I will work on Azziz slowly.

TomTom COI request follow-up

edit

Hello again, FeldBum,

In case you didn't see my last ping, I'm following up as promised per our Talk page discussion about the TomTom Group business structure section. You mentioned an interest in rewriting some of what I drafted. Appreciative of your volunteer time, I have proposed an update to my first draft in case it saves you some time. If this still interests you, I'm eager to know your thoughts. I'll be standing by in case I can be more helpful in discussion. Due to my COI, I'll remain hands-off from the article itself and defer to your best judgement. Appreciatively, Murley from TomTom (talk) 15:21, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi. You probably missed the ping at Talk:Hooked (app). I think any remaining issues are minor and the draft is way better than the currently live article. Unless you oppose, I'll go ahead and merge the draft. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:39, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Paul 012! Got very busy with stuff recently. Made some edits and kept meaning to dive back in, but haven't found the time. I can keep editing on the new live article. --FeldBum (talk) 13:00, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks; I've gone ahead and completed the merge. --Paul_012 (talk) 15:59, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request for reviewing Appian Corporation

edit

Hello, I’m reaching out to see if you would be willing to review the Appian Corporation article. For full transparency, I have a declared COI and have worked with other editors to update the page through talk page requests. There was also a {{Cleanup-PR}} flag added back in October, and I have subsequently worked with editors to clean up the page in response to that flag. I am looking for an uninvolved editor who is willing to review the page and decide if it would be appropriate to remove the flag. If there are additional changes needed, I’m happy to draft up suggested edits to help with that process. Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 21:17, 22 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey JMGAppian, I'll take a look. Just a heads-up that this is a hobby and I can get bogged down with real work and life while I dive into this, so both be patient with me and feel free to bug me. I won't mind at all. --FeldBum (talk)
Thank you FeldBum, I really appreciate any time that you are willing to spend on this and I completely understand. JMGAppian (talk) 13:59, 25 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi FeldBum, thank you for taking the time to review the Appian page and make some edits. I was curious what your thoughts were on the flag (Cleanup-PR). Do you think that flag is still necessary or do you feel it would be appropriate to remove at this point? Again, really appreciate your time and help. Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 18:19, 9 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Let me give it a little more attention, but I think it should be good to remove shortly. Just need to review the features sections. --FeldBum (talk) 22:43, 9 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I very much appreciate your time and willingness to review the page! JMGAppian (talk) 17:37, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi FeldBum, I just wanted to check in to see if you had any concerns about the remaining content on the Appian page or if you think the flag can be removed. Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 19:46, 29 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi FeldBum, can you help with some edits on Alan Greenberg. I submitted an Edit Request too, but you were really helpful last time.

Sure, I'll take a look. You added two sections here, so I'll remove one. --FeldBum (talk) 17:54, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hey LeannaTruong, looks like you meant to add your request to Talk:Alan_C._Greenberg instead of Talk:Alan_Greenberg_(businessman), which from your request looks like the right one. Also, you didn't add the Edit Request code to the page. Just make sure to add "{{request edit}}" to your requests so that other editors can help to, alongside pinging me (not that I'm not flattered 🙂).--FeldBum (talk) 18:18, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
HiFeldBum Oh no! You're right. I went ahead and fixed that edit request. Hoping those edit requests are feasible.

Regarding headless CMS page

edit

Hi FeldBum. I saw you are the most involved editor on this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headless_content_management_system and I have a quick question. While I am new to Wikipedia I am 8 years web dev and wanted to contribute to the topics I know. With that being said, my first attempt to add something was labeled as spam. What did I do wrong? I would suspect linking to an outside source. The thing is the topic of headless CMSs needs to be more versatile ie to feature different articles from different authors (we now have a couple from the same author and/or source). Anyway, any input from your side is more than welcome. Thx in advance for your reply.

Hi Vivaldi011, welcome to Wikipedia and glad you are helping on Headless content management system. We need to make sure content on the page is sourced by a third-party and avoid WP:PRIMARY content, since any company can say whatever they want about themselves. Also, Wikipedia is not a directory; it's an encyclopedia. If you want to teach people about specific headless CMS platforms, start on drafts for those pages instead of linking externally to them. --FeldBum (talk) 16:02, 28 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Got it. I actually wanted to propose changes. For example, in the Wiki article headless CMSs are referred to as API only why they can be Git-based as well. Unlike with API version content is in your Git repository present as flat-files and devs can use it from there (Forestry and NetlifyCMS come to mind as an example). Also, not all API-first headless CMSs come with RESTful API. Some use GraphQL (like GraphCMS). And some have both options. Finally, while the list of headless CMS providers is far from complete why not use/share URL with a list like https://jamstack.org/headless-cms/ . My point is I'm afraid those changes coming from a newbie would not be taken into account (which I understand to a certain point since I've been a part of DMOZ-odp for a long time). Take the spam label for my suggestion as an example. Apart from my misunderstanding if adding a link is ok, the URL itself is an in-depth overview of the most popular headless CMS solutions. A good primary resource, written by the devs in the field (no ads, no affiliate links etc). Sorry for making this too long...do you think any of the proposed changes made by me would be taken into consideration? Again thx in advance for your reply.
Go forth and make those changes, Vivaldi011--but only if you have third-party bylined articles to support those assertions and changes. Wikipedia is not a guide, so helpful as that link may be, it's not appropriate here. Your expansion into how headless CMSes work is; it just need to be properly supported. --FeldBum (talk) 14:53, 29 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hey @Vivaldi011:, want to help me write some pages for headless CMS providers? I want to do Kentico, Conteful and CommerceTools. Thanks! --FeldBum (talk) 17:47, 11 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi @FeldBum:, sorry for being MA (vacation and all). I actually finished git vs API research for citation and will be adding this on Monday. And I can help with Contentful and Kentico Kontent (if that's what you meant). Don't have experience with CommerceTools. Please lead the way. Thanks! --
@Vivaldi011:, all good about being away. This is a side project for all of us, so take whatever time you need. Want to start on a Contentful draft on your sandbox and I'll do a CommerceTools on mine and then we'll review/edit each other's and work on Kentico together (or any other variation thereof)? --FeldBum (talk) 23:44, 11 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hey @FeldBum: check my Sandbox please (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Vivaldi011/sandbox). I've added 2 suggestions there. One for headless CMS page and the other for Contentful page (suggestion of what should be covered). As there are no templates to what needs to be on the page take a look and let me know what you think. Thx. --
Hey @Vivaldi011:, that headless CMS looks good; just needs a small rewrite. I can make that edit for you on the page. I'll start a Contenful draft based on your notes, but can you help me find some citations. I think we do Lede and History for now. I just did one for Commercetools. Want to check that one out and see if I'm missing anything? Thanks! --FeldBum (talk) 15:17, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hey again Vivaldi011, I launched pages for Contentful and Commercetools. I'll get to Kentico next. Want to take a look? Thanks! --FeldBum (talk) 03:23, 23 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yitzchak Mirilashvili assist

edit

Hi FeldBum. I was wondering if you've had a chance to look over my request on the Yitzchak Mirilashvili article? As you can imagine, the current language about the Deri donations is very upsetting. It isn't presented neutrally, suggests that making donations is a crime, and essentially WP:COATRACKs a lot of the Deri details on Mirilashvili; none of which is supported by the sources. In fact, the sources indicate that Mirilashvili was never accused of or found to have done anything wrong. I presented my suggestion for language relating to the Deri gifts in a previous post. Of course I'd be happy to work with you to craft something else if necessary. With my COI declared and my continued cooperation with the community, I'd be grateful for the removal of the tag as well. With thanks, January2424 (talk) 13:24, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @January2424, thanks for the reminder. I'll take a look today but feel free to bug me if you don't hear back quickly. --FeldBum (talk) 14:36, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Library of Congress Subject Headings

edit

Hi, I omitted the at sign before your username on my reply to you on the talk page for Library of Congress Subject Headings. Don't know if that caused my reply to escape your notice, so I thought I'd check back in with you. Cheers, Monkeysoap (talk) 15:08, 12 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

No worries - was off for a bit but I'll take a look tonight or tomorrow @Monkeysoap -- FeldBum (talk) 01:24, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I am always learning. Found it easy to paste the proposed edits onto the page and click "show changes" to see what was being changed. Went ahead and implemented but feel free to double check or clean up anything in case I missed something. CNMall41 (talk) 06:01, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Re: Page move

Hello FeldBum. I saw your reply to my edit request on Talk:List_of_Zionists. I agree, "Historical Zionist figures" also works. I'd like to open a poll but don't think I'm allowed to as I'm not EC yet. Bitspectator (talk) 21:28, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey @Bitspectator, no worries - I can start the poll. I think it's a good idea. --FeldBum (talk) 13:28, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Great, thank you. Bitspectator (talk) 14:39, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Etravli Group article

edit

Hi Felbum! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving. You previously mentioned that you would be working on some phrasing for content on the Etravei Group article on its talk page. I wanted to check back in on that and see if you found any solutions. Thanks! Sayna At Etraveli (talk) 14:02, 5 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
