Hi Dan Arndt,
There was a lot of information to follow here. And quite a bit of it is extremely confusing. Why was this article declined? What steps would you advise to take so that they article can be approved? CoachBigFun (talk) 03:09, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- @CoachBigFun:, firstly the article needs to meet the requirements of WP:NCOLLATH. Secondly as per WP:SPORTBASIC you need to demonstrate that there is significant coverage, in multiple non-trivial secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject. Databases, such as ahsfhs.org/coaches, are considered trivial coverage; and the UTEP website is a primary source, as his currently employer they are not independent. Hope that helps. Dan arndt (talk) 04:02, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- @CoachBigFun, you asked me the same question, so I'm replying here to keep everything in one place. What part of Dan arndt's answer above do you still need help with? Cheers, Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 16:59, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

Response and Request for Assistance to Draft Review Feedback on Kat Tatz 05:25, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
edit- Hi Dan Arndt,
- Thank you for your feedback on the draft of the article about Kat Tatz. I have reviewed your comments, and I understand the concerns raised regarding notability and self-promotion. In response, I made several key changes to improve the submission and better adhere to Wikipedia's guidelines.
- What I Changed:
- Added More Independent Sources: I incorporated additional sources, including reputable news outlets such as Channel 13 Las Vegas, Las Vegas Weekly, and Vegasmagazine, which provide independent coverage of Kat Tatz’s work and achievements. This helps ensure that the article reflects her recognition in the art world and covers her impact beyond self-representation.
- Minimized Self-Promotion: I reworded several sections to reduce the focus on personal biography and exhibition details, shifting the emphasis toward her recognition in public venues and media coverage. I’ve worked to remove any language that could be construed as self-promotion, instead focusing on her external validation from critics, curators, and media sources.
- Clarified Career Achievements: I highlighted her success in the “Made in Vegas” art competition and her work being displayed alongside renowned artists. I’ve aimed to demonstrate her professional accomplishments and how her work is recognized by others in the art community, in line with the guidelines for notability.
- I also wanted to address your concern about my relationship with the subject of the article. While I do know Kat Tatz personally, I have made every effort to ensure that this article adheres to Wikipedia's guidelines and maintains objectivity. However, if you believe there are still concerns about neutrality due to this connection, I am open to working with you or another editor to further minimize any potential bias.
- Additionally, Kat Tatz’s work deserves recognition not only for her artistic achievements but also in light of her contributions as a female artist in the Las Vegas art scene. As part of the “Women in Red” initiative, which highlights the accomplishments of women artists, I believe Kat’s career aligns with this cause, especially as she continues to break barriers in a traditionally male-dominated art world. Her presence in prominent locations and exhibitions is a testament to her standing as a respected artist, and I would appreciate any further guidance on how we can incorporate this aspect into the article.
- Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to your feedback.
JennerTatz (talk) 07:25, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- My biggest concern is that you user name, JennerTatz, and the fact that your only edits are in respect to the draft article, Kat Tatz. This implies that your only interest in Wikipedia is to ensure an article of Kat Tatz is promoted, and as such you would be defined as a single purpose account with a significant conflict of interest. In respect to the draft, a lot of the information provided is sourced from Park West Gallery, through whom she is represented as such Park West Gallery, would be determined as primary source and not a reliable independent source. The Park West Gallery references therefore need to be replaced with reliable independent secondary sources. A number of the other references cited are merely mentions in passing "Guests will have a chance to win original artwork by Kat Tatz, who was recently featured on HGTV's "DIY to the Rescue."" (noting DIY to the Rescue doesn't appear to be notable), and "paintings by Kat Tatz are on display ". In addition, some of the references don't even mention Tatz, such as the Las Vegas Sun and New York Times sources.
In my view there is a lot of work that needs to be done to bring this up to standard required by Wikipedia. Dan arndt (talk) 08:02, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your thoughtful and constructive feedback regarding the draft article on Kat Tatz. I truly appreciate your time and consideration in pointing out the potential conflict of interest (COI) and the areas for improvement in the article. I completely understand the importance of neutrality and the need for reliable, independent sources.
- I would like to kindly mention that Kat Tatz’s work is, in my opinion, quite notable, especially for her influence and recognition in the Las Vegas art community. I have found several sources that provide significant coverage of her career and accomplishments, which I believe can help address some of the concerns raised about the sources in the draft. Here are a few examples that I added in the draft:
- KTNV Channel 13 Las Vegas: Kat Tatz Brings a Bit of Her Wonderland to the Las Vegas Strip
- KTNV Channel 13 Las Vegas: Kat Tatz, Winner of Made in Vegas Competition, Now on View at Park West Gallery
- YouTube Interview: Kat Tatz Featured on KTNV Channel 13
- Las Vegas Weekly: Meet the Made in Vegas Art Competition Winner, Kat Tatz
- These sources highlight important aspects of her work and could potentially replace some of the weaker references currently in the draft. I believe they offer a more independent and balanced view of her career.
- Given my conflict of interest, I would be so grateful for any advice or guidance you can offer on how to proceed. If possible, I would love to work with a neutral editor who can help ensure the article adheres to Wikipedia’s guidelines for neutrality and sourcing. I want to be sure the article is fair, well-sourced, and written from a neutral point of view, and I am more than happy to assist in any way I can while respecting the process.
- Your help and insights would be immensely appreciated, and I truly value your time and expertise. Thank you again for your patience, and I hope we can collaborate to improve this article. JennerTatz (talk) 08:12, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- JennerTatz Wikipedia has little interest in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is almost entirely interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. As such interviews with Tatz or promotional pieces by Park West Gallery are not relevant or supportive of her potential notability. Noting YouTube is not generally considered a reliable independent source.
- Winning a non-notable art competition, such as the 'Made in Vegas' art competition, doesn't make her notable either. If you were able to show that there is substantial coverage of her as an artist outside of Las Vegas that would go a fair way to establishing notability.
- Unfortunately, I have other commitments, which mean that I can't spend the time collaborating with you on this draft. However, I wish you well in your endeavours and am happy to review the draft once you have addressed all the issues I've raised. Dan arndt (talk) 08:25, 3 January 2025 (UTC)

About the rejection of Draft:Bad Moon Rising: The Collection
editHi, you rejected my submission for Draft:Bad Moon Rising: The Collection for the music retail websites not being reliable sources, but Ultimate Creedence Clearwater Revival: Greatest Hits & All-Time Classics includes citations for music retail websites, and it’s still up. Newtatoryd222 (talk) 17:52, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Newtatoryd222:, simply the ''Ultimate Creedence Clearwater Revival: Greatest Hits & All-Time Classics'' complies with Wikipedia:NALBUM, in that it has multiple professional reviews, and evidence that the album charted, whereas ''Draft:Bad Moon Rising: The Collection'' doesn't. Dan arndt (talk) 04:43, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- Where would I find reviews for this album? Newtatoryd222 (talk) 21:45, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Newtatoryd222:, that’s not up to me, that’s up to you. They will need to professional reviews, such as the one on AllMusic, not personal reviews on blog sites. Dan arndt (talk) 00:08, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
