tzf is a video engineeer in San Francisco, California, USA (but actually I live in Alameda.)

(I've deleted a bunch of my old and, in some cases, less than completely civil, commentary here.)

As time goes on, I find myself less and less enamoured (sic) with the culture here on Wikipedia, and therefore have been less and less inspired to contribute, though I never had time to do all that much. It appears to me that the culture of these folks is becoming exclusionary, preventing casual users like me from making any significant contributions by being critical in such a way as to require a level of commitment (i.e. time) that us casual users cannot afford. If I write an article, and it takes an hour or two of my time, I consider that a major time expense. This is deprecated by those who apparently spend half their lives on Wikipedia, to the point where I see little or no value in putting my time into an article. I still love reading Wikipedia, and there are many very well-written articles on Wikipedia, and I would even admit that the overall quality of articles has improved over the last few years. That being said, I preferred the old wild & woolly Wikipedia anyway: it was a free-er place. C'est la vie!
