The collection is an old collection that has had other images passed in other GAs, but I am unaware of further info on the web. The lead has been expanded.Cgoodwin (talk) 06:41, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Will review this article this evening. I've worked a couple of 18th century dog articles up to GA, so I hopefully should be able to help out on avoiding any related pitfalls. :) Miyagawa (talk) 12:35, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Image in infobox: Do we have an artist and a date of death for it? The PD tag requires that the artist has died prior to 1 January 1955 but there is no artist or date or death listed.
  • Other Image: Is there any proof that it was published without a copyright notice? More information needs to be included regarding the source in the image description.
No copyright was listed on the above images.

  • References: Essentially need as much information as you can find on each. Major issues I can see is reference #5 - needs the article title and preferably the date. #6, the book title needs to be in italics rather than speechmarks. #7 needs the full title and also the website. #8 needs to have the website separated from the page title (same with #9). I find Template:Citation extremely useful and it helps me to structure my references. In fact, if you can add it, there's an addon which brings up a prompt for you to complete which fills out those templates.

The spelling was per

for Australia. I am now having problems with the edits pages, but with attempt ot rectify the other issues. Cgoodwin (talk) 02:50, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

That's it for starters, let me know when you've addressed those and I'll come take another look. I'll place the article on hold for now. Miyagawa (talk) 23:52, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Is there any information on the Gooreen Collection? I'm just concerned that although the images have been uploaded to commons and have pd licences on them, the information listed on the descriptions doesn't back the tags up. Other than that, it's just the references tags that are outstanding. Miyagawa (talk) 21:50, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
I have addressed the above issues and hope that the article is now OK. The Gooreen collection is an old private collection from which some other images have passed through GA without any problems. Thank you for your time and contributions. Cgoodwin (talk) 23:59, 17 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Is there anything online that clarifies the pd status of the collection? Miyagawa (talk) 18:40, 19 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Further separate point - I think the lead could do with some expansion. Specifically I think it could do with a mention of some of his greatest victories and something along the lines of "He raced in Australia before being sold to an American buyer who moved him to California in 1948." OK, well I think this article meets the GA criteria now. There is hundreds of images from the Gooreen collection on WMC, so if there was any real issues with it, then it certainly would have been brought up by now and those would have been removed. Happy to promote. Miyagawa (talk) 11:00, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Awards

edit

I have tried to clarify the award situation in 1948, although I'm wary of messing around with a GA. The awards by Daily Racing Form and Turf & Sports Digest were slightly different. The TSD award won by Shannon was for older horses (4yo+) (see ref in article). The DRF award was for the Champion of the Handicap division, regardless of age, and went to a 3yo on several occasions. I dislike the term Co-champion as it sounds like there was a tie of some kind. Tigerboy1966  21:28, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
