Suggestion
editMy grammar is not good and I don't feel comfortable editing this article but someone should explain how the cDNA libraries contain only exons and are therefore much easier to work with than the complete genome.
Thanks.
response to suggestion
editcDNA librarys are made from mRNA which contains only exons. The introns have been spliced out and will not be found in a cDNA library.
bullcrap
editRNases which can be found even on the skin? The outer layer of the dermis, the epidermis is dead material, and consists mostly out of ceratine. Shouldn`t this be in the epithelial cells, but this would come as no wonder, but besides what has RNase and skin todo anyways in this article.193.170.48.34 16:07, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
response to bullcrap
editHAHAHAHA learn a bit more about the topic before writing such things here! HAHAHAHA RNases ARE everywhere, you can sneeze them out, and your entire experiment would be destroyed, if you work with RNA. Yes, they can be on your hands, as so many other things can be on your hands, a "zoo" of microorganisms for example.
dudees, this article is too tiny!!!
editwrite more on this topic pls. my english is not good enough, and i have exam time anyway. PLEASE!
Article Plan
editI've only recently started work on the article. After reviewing it, I realised it needed a lot of work. A lot more work. So, here's the thing. Perhaps we can discuss how this article should be arranged. Here's my suggestion of what I think should be included...
- Intro
- cDNA Library construction
- mRNA extraction
- Creating cDNA
- Splicing plasmids
- Bacterial transformation
- cDNA uses (must include high-profile examples)
- Advantages and disadvantages
What do you guys think?

- I started some re-working of the article. I cleaned it up a little bit and removed the "expert-needed template". I'll keep working and try to get some references and additional info in the near future. Schu1321 (talk) 08:31, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have included some information on mRNA extraction and creating cDNA. This article needs a good picture about the process involved in creating cDNA. Someone please include short details on restriction digestion of cDNA, costruction of recombinant plasmids and information on bacterial transformation.Proquence (talk) 10:11, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Assessment comment
editThe comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:CDNA library/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.
I was concerned that the article said a cDNA library contains all the mRNAs in a cell. A major problem with cDNA libraries is that they often do not contain all the mRNAs, but rather a random sampling. I did not have the time to do a real revision of this article -- I just changed the first sentence. Probably a bad idea, but I would urge a careful review of it. I will try to post more detailed comments soon. Michael.brent 02:22, 7 September 2007 (UTC) |
