Fictional character biography

edit

Lyssa Drak originates from Talok IV, one of the three inhabitable worlds in the Talokian star system in Sector 3500 that Lydea Mallor (Talok VIII), Lyrissa Mallor (Talok VIII), Shadow Lass (Talok VIII) and Mikaal Tomas (Talok III) hail from.[2] She is the keeper of the Book of Parallax, which records the history of the Sinestro Corps, and trains its members. Furthermore, Sinestro bound her to the Book using yellow energy chains.[3][4][5]

In Sinestro Corps War, Green Lanterns John Stewart and Guy Gardner are captured and Lyssa tasked with overseeing their captivity. Hal Jordan, Tomar-Tu, and Graf Toren rescue the two, defeat Lyssa Drak, and imprison her on Oa.[6][7][8] Lyssa later escapes, but the Guardian Scar imprisons her in the Book of the Black.[9][10][11]

Following Scar's death, Krona frees Lyssa from the Book.[12][13] Feeling betrayed and abandoned by her fellow corpsmembers after the events of Blackest Night, Lyssa defects from the Sinestro Corps and becomes the caretaker of the Book of the Black. She traps Sinestro, Carol Ferris, Atrocitus, Larfleeze, Saint Walker, and Indigo-1 inside the book, but they combine their energy to stop her, creating a rainbow energy explosion that causes the Book to disappear.[14]

Following the War of the Green Lanterns storyline, Sinestro rejoins the Green Lantern Corps and informs Lyssa of the Guardians' plan to replace the Corps with the 'Third Army'.[15] Both later return to the Sinestro Corps.

Powers and abilities

edit

As a member of the Sinestro Corps, Lyssa possesses a yellow power ring which allowed its wielder to create constructs in the form of whatever objects its bearer can imagine. The power rings also provide flight, force fields and communication. In addition, she is a skilled fighter and survivalist, and quick learner.
