The Planning and Budget Team in the DNR Executive Director's Office develops the Department’s annual legislative budget request and Long Range Financial Plan; coordinates DNR's response to legislative fiscal notes and information requests; and participates in policy analysis efforts and other DNR initiatives. After the budget is approved by the General Assembly, the team works closely with all divisions within the Department to provide fiscal and operational guidance in implementing the operating budget each fiscal year.
The team also ensures the Department's compliance with the state’s performance management system implemented through the SMART Act by working on DNR's Wildly Important Goals, assembling the annual strategic plan, and managing the Department's progress reporting on the Governor's dashboard and quarterly reports.
