💡 Inspiration

This app's idea was inspired by my own experiences. There have been so many instances in my life where I felt that I didn't deserve things that I have or was able to achieve. And I have heard similar stories from other people around me as well. A lot of us struggle with imposter syndrome but most of us don't know how to deal with that feeling. In research on this topic, I found an article from Forbes where Newinski, who is the Deputy Chair and COO at KPMG US said that 75% of executive women identified having experienced imposter syndrome at various points during their careers —and 85% believe it is commonly experienced by women across corporate America. Research also shows that almost 98% of professional women experience at least one of the 7 most damaging power gaps that prevent individuals from reaching their highest and most thrilling potential, and 75% face three or more of these gaps at the same time. One of the most challenging is Power Gap #1 - not recognizing your special talents, abilities, and gifts.

🤳 What it does

Imposter Bubble helps women identify the type of imposter syndrome that they might have and suggest ways to combat that by providing various features that they can use to find an inclusive online community to share experiences with others and find ways to tackle imposter syndrome. Features :

  • Quiz - To identify type imposter syndrome
  • Affirmations - Saying powerful phrases like "I am proud of myself", "I am strong" can have a great impact on user's mental well being and they'll feel more confident about themselves after this exercise
  • Resources - This section has videos, self-help books that user gets reminded of by notifications, and by watching useful content they can identify ways to deal with imposter syndrome and feel more confident
  • Community - To connect with other women, share experiences with them and learn ways to tackle it

⚙️ How we built it

I built it using Flutter, a cross-platform app development framework by Google that allows us to use the same codebase to develop apps for iOS, Android, web platforms. I used various packages and text to speech API to match affirmations.

🏅 Accomplishments

Though I started a bit late, I managed to quickly get on track. And tried implementing as many features as I can in the time that I had. I am proud of creating an aesthetically pleasing app that helps people combat imposter syndrome.

🤔 Challenges we ran into

I took a lot of time in finalizing the idea. So had to do things quickly. Got stuck with some errors, spend a lot of time fixing those but finally managed to finish MVP on time.

🤔 What did we learn:

Learned how to create the UI, implement different features, and solved bugs

💭 What's next for Imposter Bubble:

I would like to work on this with my friends and add more useful content and features. Like community feature and add games.
