OT: Pregnant Barbie?

Β

Β

I was out with DD at Toys R US the other day, plotting on christmas gifts for the girls.... and I saw this.... WTH? LOL

You can even put the baby in the tummy. Its kinda weird to me... I mean I guess I could help explain the whole.. "Where do babies come from?" But I dont think I want my kids playing with this....

  • I don't understand what the "problem" is. They had something like that when I was little. But, it wasn't "Barbie". It was called Family something. I thought it was the greatest thing. I had fun playing with it. But, that's just me. If I thought my child was ready for something like that, I'd get it for them.
  • This came out well before I had dd, 11 years ago.i see no issue with it, if dd wanted it I'd be perfectly fine with it.
  • I'm with Ace and BabyGumby. I had one and see no problem with it. ODD is 7 but if she wanted it I'd buy it.
  • Lol, dolls have to be pre approved by me to be allowed in our house, whether DD wants them or not - we all know the creepy ones let their clown friends in the door when you're sleeping.

That second pic wouldn't meet the non-creepy requirement in my eyes. It reminds me more of an autopsy than a pregnancy :). We will have no Lala loopsies with their creepy Coraline button eyes, and nothing with eyes that open and close, either. There are very few dolls that aren't creepy, IMO.
  • When I was little I LOVED the doll that was like this. It wasn't a Barbie like pp mentioned but I had tons of fun with it. This is something my dd (7y/o,) would have loved to have while I was pregnant. She was so excited about everything.

  • I can think of far worse things for kids to play with. As long as it's not inappropriate (sex, drugs, alcohol, gangs, or violence), I really don't care what my kids play with, whether I "like" it or not.

  • Im more scared of them lalaloopsie dolls .they look like freaky voodoo dolls or something.idk if pregnant barbie is good or bad if its questionable I just dont deal with it lol
