BST guide to this week’s early MLB games: College World Series adds to the mix

CovHlSqThere’s lots of live baseball on offer this working week.  There are early MLB games on Wednesday and Thursday and ESPN America is broadcasting games from the Baseball College World Series during the other evenings.

All times are in BST.

Monday 20 June

No early games, although ESPN America continues its coverage of the Baseball College World Series with a game at 19.00.

Tuesday 21 June

As above, no early games but you can watch some college baseball instead from 19.00.

Wednesday 22 June

17.35. NY Yankees at Cincinnati (Garcia – Leake)
17.35. Baltimore at Pittsburgh (Britton – Correia)
18.05. Toronto at Atlanta (Reyes – Delgado)
18.35. San Diego at Boston (Richard – Lackey) * ESPN America
19.10. Tampa Bay at Milwaukee (Price – Marcum)
20.10. Detroit at LA Dodgers (Porcello – Lilly)

Interleague play continues and produces several exciting match-ups.

Yankees-Reds should be a good series, while it will be interesting to see how the Blue Jays match up against the Braves.  Adrian Gonzalez will be facing the Padres this week for the first time since his offseason trade to Boston.

Arguably the pick of the match-ups is the Rays-Brewers game.  This would be Shaun Marcum’s turn in the rotation, but his participation is in doubt after he came out of a difficult start against the Red Sox with a hip injury.

Thursday 23 June

18.05. Seattle at Washington (Pineda – Marquis) * ESPN America
18.10. Oakland at NY Mets (Godfrey – Capuano)
20.45. Minnesota at San Francisco (Duensing – Lincecum)

There are only five games in total being played in the Majors on Thursday.  Hopefully the Mariners will have no cause to switch their rotation schedule and we get a chance to see the impressive rookie Michael Pineda in action.

A’s-Mets and Twins-Giants should be evenly-matched contests as well, with a Tim Lincecum start always being worth watching.

Friday 24 June

No early games, but the College World Series comes to the rescue for those looking to start the weekend with some baseball.

All of these games are available to watch live via the MLB.TV subscription at MLB.com.  The early games being shown on ESPN America are highlighted above, while the ESPN/ESPN America schedule can be found on their website.  The full schedule for this week’s games can be found on MLB.com.
