Biography
Joe Ellington was born in Flusing, New York. Ellington earned a B.S. from Guilford College, an M.S. and Ph.D. from Duke University, and an M.D. from Wake Forest University. Ellington completed his residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His career experience includes working as a physician.[1]

2014
Elections for the West Virginia House of Delegates took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 13, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 25, 2014. District 27 is represented by three delegates. Incumbents Joe Ellington, Marty Gearheart and John H. Shott were unopposed in the Republican primary. Ellington, Gearheart, and Shott defeated Carol Bailey (D) and Karen White (Mountain) in the general election.[6]
2012
Ellington won re-election in the 2012 election for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 27. Ellington advanced unopposed in the May 8 primary election and won re-election in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[7][8][9]
2010
Ellington was elected as one of the two positions in District 25 on the ballot in the November 2, 2010, general election. He was opposed in the general election by Republican Chuck Terry, Democrat Bill Morefield and Democrat incumbent John Frazier. Only the top two vote-getters were elected.
Thomas Porter died on September 27, 2010. His son, Mike accepted the appointment to finish his father's term. Republicans named Chuck Terry to run for the seat in the November 2, 2010, general election.[10][11][12][13][14]
