Mayor Martin Hayes has asked voters to retain the board members. He has said, "I want to keep my board the way it is because they’ve stepped up and done a lot of work that I don’t have to and it's been working quite well."[4]

Helmick-Winkelman has said, “The only real argument that’s ever been put out there and in public was that if there was not a female water operator, there would not be a recall.”[4]
