An election to recall Natisha Helmick-Winkelman and Terry Vice from the Brownville Village Board was scheduled for October 10, 2023, in Brownville, Nebraska. Voters recalled both Helmick-Winkelman and Vice[1][2]
Bailey Bindle resigned from the board and did not appear on the ballot on October 10.[3]

Recall supporters
Joann Dunn was the primary circulator of the petitions, which alleged mismanagement of city funds, misinformation given to the public, and refusal to listen to citizen input.[1]
Recall opponents
Mayor Martin Hayes has asked voters to retain the board members. He has said, "I want to keep my board the way it is because they’ve stepped up and done a lot of work that I don’t have to and it's been working quite well."[4]
Helmick-Winkelman has said, “The only real argument that’s ever been put out there and in public was that if there was not a female water operator, there would not be a recall.”[4]

Recall organizers needed to collect 21 signatures in order to trigger a recall election. Signatures were verified by the Nemaha County Clerk's Office, and the Brownville Village Board ordered the recall election.[1]
Ballots were mailed out beginning on September 18 and needed to be submitted to the clerk's office by 5 p.m. on October 10, 2023.[3]
