Recall supporters

Resident Brenda Persino was among the organizers of the recall effort. Persino alleged that Spletzer had failed "to fairly and properly conduct the business of [the] village." She also alleged that Spletzer had made inappropriate comments about residents on social media.

Recall opponents

Spletzer told the Tribune Chronicle that she did not wish to comment on the recall campaign.

For a recall election to be scheduled, organizers needed to collect 101 signatures. Organizers said that they submitted petitions with 139 signatures to the city council clerk in February 2023.
