Mary Hannah Lauck is a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. She joined the court in 2014 after a nomination from President Barack Obama.

A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Lauck earned her bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, from Wellesley College in 1986 and her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1991.[1]

Lauck was first nominated by President Barack Obama on December 19, 2013, to a seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia vacated by James Spencer. The American Bar Association rated Lauck Unanimously Well Qualified for the nomination. Under Rule XXXI, paragraph six of the standing rules of the Senate, Lauck's nomination was returned to the president on January 3, 2014. President Obama resubmitted Lauck's nomination on January 6, 2014. Hearings on Lauck's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 25, 2014, and her nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) on March 27, 2014. Lauck was confirmed on a recorded 90-0 vote of the U.S. Senate on June 10, 2014, and she received her commission the same day.[1][2][3][4]

Lauck was a federal magistrate judge for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2005 to 2014.[1]
