Karla Cisneros
Karla Cisneros was a member of the Houston City Council in Texas, representing District H. She assumed office on January 2, 2016. She left office on January 2, 2024.
Cisneros ran for re-election to the Houston City Council to represent District H in Texas. She won in the general runoff election on December 14, 2019.
Biography
Cisneros received a bachelor's degree in environmental science from the University of Virginia in 1976, a master's degree in architecture from Rice University in 1983 and a Texas teaching certificate from the University of Houston-Downtown in 2009. She worked as an elementary teacher from 1992 to 1994 and from 2009 to 2015.
Other professional experience includes training teachers at the Baylor College of Medicine Center for Educational Outreach, working as a project manager at the Hermann Park Conservancy, owner and designer of Blue Crab Studio, parental involvement and community engagement specialist for the Houston Independent School District and assistant director of the SPARK School Park Program. She was also a member of the Houston Independent School District Board of Education.[1]

The city of Houston, Texas, held elections for mayor and city council on November 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was August 24, 2015.[2] In the race for District H, Karla Cisneros and Jason Cisneroz defeated Roland Chavez and Abel Davila in the general election. Cisneros defeated Cisneroz in a runoff election on December 12, 2015.[3][4]
