Howard Miller was a judge on the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department from 1999 to 2010. He began serving in this position in March 1999.[1] Miller stepped down from the court in 2010 to work in alternative dispute resolution for National Arbitration and Mediation, Inc.[2]

Education

Judge Miller graduated from Brooklyn College in 1957 and received his law degree (LLB) from New York University School of Law in 1961.[1]

Career

Judge Miller began his career in 1961 as a private practice lawyer. He worked in this capacity until 1974. From 1972 to 1974, he also worked as a Town Justice for Orangetown, NY. He then worked as a Rockland County Family Court Judge through 1980. From 1981 to 1984, he served as an Acting Supreme Court Justice and Acting Surrogate. He then returned to the private practice of law for approximately 6 years (from 1985 through 1990). In 1991, he became a Supreme Court Justice for the 9th Judicial District. He held this position until his appointment to the Appellate Division in 1999.[1]
