Dawn Addiego
Dawn Addiego (Democratic Party) was a member of the New Jersey State Senate, representing District 8. She assumed office in 2010. She left office on January 11, 2022.
Addiego (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the New Jersey State Senate to represent District 8. She lost in the general election on November 2, 2021.
On January 28, 2019, Addiego changed her party affiliation from Republican to Democrat. She said, "As gridlock in Washington dominates the news, it has become increasingly clear that in order to effect change you have to be part of the discussion and not on the outside looking in. The people of the 8th district did not elect me to be content in the role of loyal opposition."[1]
Addiego served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2008 to 2010. She previously served as assistant minority leader and assistant Republican whip in the General Assembly.
Biography
Addiego earned her B.S.A. in accounting from Villanova University and her J.D. from Widener University School of Law. Her professional experience includes working as an attorney and as the co-founder and vice-president of the Animal Adoption Center in South Jersey.[2]
She was a member of the Burlington County Board of Freeholders from 2000 to 2008 and the Evesham Township Council from 1993 to 2000.

The filing deadline for the primary election was April 3, 2017.[3][4] Incumbent Dawn Addiego (R) defeated George Youngkin (D) in the New Jersey State Senate District 8 general election.[5][6]

Addiego won re-election to the District 8 State Senate seat in the 2011 election. She was unopposed in both the June 7 Republican primary and general election on November 8, 2011.[12] Addiego was set to face Carl Lewis (D) in the general election, however, on September 22 he was found ineligible and removed from the ballot.
2009
Addiego ran for re-election to the New Jersey General Assembly District 8 in 2009. Addiego was bracketed with Scott Rudder (R) and defeated challengers William Brown (D) and Debbie Sarcone (D) in the general election.[13][14]
