Common Core

Wright worked on the transition of the Mississippi school standards to better align with the Common Core State Standards Initiative. The U.S. Department of Education approved a waiver for schools to retain the letter grade they received in the 2012-2013 school year if the grade from 2013-2014 had decreased. Wright said the decrease would be due to the state tests not aligning with the common core curriculum the students are using.
