There are so many women who inspire me in different ways, because as women we wear so many different hats. Shirley Chisholm is an incredible role model and I think about her often before I speak publicly. Hers is a voice of truth and power. She didn't compromise her vision. Her example reminds me to keep pushing forward.
My first historical event was attending St. Paul's Icehouse Castles downtown. The design of the ice sculptures was breathtaking. I admire the beauty of the downtown and grew a deeper appreciation for Minnesota winter.
My very first job was a Daycare Assistant for a family-owned Sunshine Day Care Center. I prepared meals for the children and provided early childhood education. It was an experience that taught me patience, compassion, and the power of imagination.
