Chapter Text
'It really is bittersweet how some things turn out, isn't it?' A young man thought to himself as he rode his bicycle down the road in the evening light. This young man, was a 21 year old brunette Caucasian named Marc. He was currently on his way to his first night on the job as a security guard for Freddy Fazbear's Gigaplex, and he was feeling a mixture of emotions as he pedaled along. On one hand, he was excited that he was going to be working there, as he had heard many amazing stories about the new place, but on the other hand, he was sad because an important person in his life wouldn't be able to see his dream come true. Marc let out a quiet sigh through his nose as he began to see the big building in the distance. It was only when he reached the car park that he realized just how massive the place was. "Jesus. This isn't a mall, it's a cathedral." This made him feel a bit more nervous, but he put on a brave face as he brought his bike over to the bike rack, and locked it in place, before walking over to the main doors.
When he made it to the doors, he began looking around until he heard an automated male voice speak up. "Hello. Freddy Fazbear's Gigaplex is closed for the evening. If you are an employee, please provide your ID to confirm your identity." "Ah," Marc replied, as he pulled out his Fazbear Security ID that he had received in the mail alongside the Fazbear security outfit a few days prior. He then noticed the scanner above the door lower down in front of him. He held out his ID for the device as it began scanning. "Identification verified. Welcome, Officer Marc." Marc then heard the doors unlock, before they opened for him, and the scanner returned to its original position. "Welp, here goes." Marc took a deep breath to compose himself, and then entered. As he did so, he couldn't help but look in awe. "Wow..."
"Sure is something, ain't it?" Asked an unfamiliar cheerful voice which snapped Marc out of his trance. "I-Is someone there?" He asked. "Down here!" When Marc looked down, he almost had to do a double take. There, standing just a few feet in front of him, was a small bear animatronic smiling up at him, holding a tambourine. He had a white body, with purple & pink accents, and was wearing what appeared to be a bright blue suit, purple shoes, a bowtie, and a top hat.
"Hello, hello! You're Marc, right? The new member of our night team?" "Um... Y-yeah, that's me." Marc kneeled down to be more eye level with the cheerful bear. "And you are...?" "Helpy's the name, and helping's my game! I've been asked to give you a tour of the Gigaplex before you can officially start work." "Are you the manager?" "Oh heavens, no. I'm her little helper. She had to leave for a bit to finalize some things, but she'll be back later on, don't you fret. In the meantime, I'll arrange our transportation, so the tour can begin." "Transportation?" "Yep. Since the place is so big, we have mall trains so our customers and employees can get around quickly and safely during the day. Besides, judging by your heartrate and your leg muscles, you could do with a break. Biked here, I'm guessing?" Marc was still a bit stunned by everything, so all he could do was nod. "Alrighty then, let me just..." A holographic screen then appeared on Helpy's tambourine and he began using it like a tablet. 'A holographic tablet!?' "And there we go. He'll be here shortly." 'He? Who?' Marc's internal question was met with the unmistakable sound of the whistle and chugging of a steam locomotive coming from further in the plex. And then, Marc saw it.
The mall train Helpy had called bore a striking resemblance to the Union Pacific Railroad's 'Big Boy', the largest steam locomotive in the world. Which, when Marc thought about it, it made a lot of sense, given this was Utah. But, as it reached them and came to a halt, surrounded by what appeared to be real steam, Marc discovered that the mall loco's smokebox door was actually an LED screen, for the picture immediately changed to a grey animated cartoon face. It made the engine look tough, but kind. It was now apparent who 'he' was. The loco then looked at Marc and smirked. "So, you're the new kid?" At last, Marc found his voice again. "Y-yeah, I'm Marc." "Nice to meet ya, Marc. I'm Bruce." Marc then looked over to the passenger cars Bruce was pulling. Quite fittingly, they resembled large freight cars, except they had comfy seats inside them, and had doors on both sides that opened for every seat. Then, the first door facing Marc & Helpy opened up. "All aboard the Plex Express!" Helpy called as he jumped excitedly into the car. Marc continued to stand in awe, before Bruce snapped him out of his trance. "What're ya waiting for newbie?" "Oh, right. Sorry." Marc quickly climbed in. The door then closed as Bruce began to speak again. "Welcome aboard. Make sure to fasten your seatbelt and keep all limbs close to your body." Marc did so. "All set!" Cheered Helpy. "Alrighty then! Next stop, Rockstar Row!" Bruce's whistle blew long and loud, and the bell began to ring. Steam flew out of all four cylinders and the smokestack as Bruce chugged away back into the Gigaplex.
Meanwhile, at Rockstar Row:
"Are you absolutely certain you still need to do this, Gregory?" A certain Glamrock Bear asked within his green room. "We can't take any chances, Dad. I have to come with you for these new hire tours so I can see for myself if we can trust them or not. I know that thing is gone, but that doesn't change the fact that there are still bad people in the world. I just can't risk losing you guys... I can't..." Small tears began forming in Gregory's determined eyes, and soon both bear and boy were hugging each other. "You are very brave, Gregory. You should not worry about such things at your age. But you are right, so I will not dissuade you. Please do be careful, all the same." "Of course I will, dad. I'm riding with you, after all." That made them both chuckle. Just then, gradual chugging could be heard from outside the room. "Guess it's showtime." Gregory quipped. Freddy nodded before opening his stomach hatch for Gregory to climb inside.
"Here it is, Rockstar Row!" Helpy announced excitedly. Marc couldn't help but take in the surroundings like he had back in the main atrium.
Helpy then called out. "Hello! Anyone in there?" Then, the hissing sound of automated doors opening was heard, and sure enough, two very familiar animatronics came walking toward the train from their respective green rooms.
As he saw them approach, Marc began to realize how tall they actually were compared to him, now that he was seeing them in person. It honestly made him feel nervous. "Hello there!" Freddy Fazbear himself spoke up first as he approached the train, accentuating his greeting with his signature wave. "Hi Helpy! Hi Bruce!" Chica greeted. "Hello, you two!" Helpy replied in his cheery tone. "Meet the new hire!" Both lead singer and guitarist turned their attention to Marc, who looked up at them nervously. But the two Glamrocks smiled warmly at him. "Hello," Freddy greeted, in what Marc felt to be an almost fatherly tone. "You must be Officer Marc." He held his hand out for a handshake. Marc just stared at the bear's hand in surprise before gently accepting the handshake. "Y-yes, I am. I-it's a pleasure to meet you, sir." Freddy gave a soft chuckle. "Please, call me Freddy." "And I'm Chica. It's nice to meet you, sugarplum." Freddy and Chica had done a scan themselves as soon as they approached Marc earlier, and they could see that the young man was simply nervous. And Gregory, who was watching everything from inside Freddy's stomach hatch, still didn't fully trust this new guy yet. But, he couldn't help but relate to the nervousness one can feel when meeting the animatronics for the first time.
Marc felt a bit calmer from the warm vibes Freddy and Chica were giving. He was also impressed by how humanlike they seemed so far. But then, he finally noticed something off about Freddy, but he couldn't put his finger on it. That was, until he noticed a poster of Freddy on the wall, and that's when he realized. 'Freddy's wearing pants now!' Freddy then noticed what Marc was looking at, and looked back to Marc with a slightly embarrassed look on his face. "Those are old posters. The new ones have not arrived from the printers yet." "Ah, I see." "Anyways," Interrupted Helpy. "Would you two like to join us for the tour?" "Oh, of course!" "We'd love to!" The doors then opened so Freddy and Chica could climb aboard. Chica, being the shorter of the two, opted to sit next to Marc in the front seat, while Freddy settled in the seat behind them. Bruce then called out: "Next stop, Bonnie Bowling!"
