Although this is a lighthearted series filled with girls ordinary life or problems like being insecure about how they look down there, hairstyles or tails, it also focuses on discrimination, government big brother, speciesism and more. The discrimination = correctional facility commentary and the WW2 concentration camp half-episode can get uncomfortable if you came here to relax.
I would recommend it to people wanting a rather serious but actually not-serious and not really fan service (despite the mermaids, baths and few times skimpy clothing) lighthearted slice of life series dealing with the topics mentioned above on a rather shallow level meant to tell you something, all spiced up with cute monster girls.
I also find it questionable to call it A Centaur's Life, as many times the series simply diverge away from Hime to other and even random people.

Initially I thought this was going to be an entertaining anime on supernatural humanoid creatures in school, but turned into a slow paced slice of life show with lots of cutesy elements, which is fine; however when comparing it to other shows in this genre, Centaur no Nayami was really basic... at least for me. Slice of life enthusiasts will enjoy this show.

A nice slow paced slice of life, very calm and serene about what being an animal with humanoid-like properties would be like. As well as all the entailed human rights issues and considerations which at points break from the light-hearted nature.
I was a little put off by the classification of what racial discrimination was like in Nazi Germany, in concentration camps where the segregation was not as accurately portrayed as it could have been, but I'm sure it's a long stretch at any rate.

This show's slow pace even for a slice of daily life sort of show can make it a bit of a slog to get through, but at the same time... this show is surprisingly good. The subject matter covered and the varied perspectives make it fun. We go from discussions about hair, the logistics of a centaur sitting on a potty, what's considered a 'turn on' to mermen when the merwomen always go around topless, what the political environment of the diverse world is like... political correctness as a subject... The slow pacing of the show permits deeper contemplation on the topics, and there's a fair mix of cute innocence alongside surprisingly down to earth realism despite the contrarian world the story takes place in. I cannot recommend this show highly enough. It is horribly underrated, likely in large part due to the show's shaky start. Don't stop watching at least until you've seen the first three eps.

I really enjoy watching those genre of anime but for some reason they put in some episode about some people you never actually know who the person is and makes an episode out of it like that is the only time you are gonna see him or some stuff they actually never explain... wasn't this suppose to be about Hime and her friends? Some episode are actually pretty cute especially when it includes the Triplet Chi-Sister and the little Suu. They didn't abuse on the fan service except for those mermaid episode but hey at least it answer some question!
Overall I would recommend it for fans of this genre its not for everyone and be prepared that someone episode makes you just wants to skip cause they added the stuff I mentioned earlier in the review.
