A few years ago, I made the resolute decision to resign from my position in a Microbiology Department to pursue my passion for software development. The shift from the healthcare industry to programming required great attention to detail and a structured approach to complex challenges. My background in scientific research has been invaluable, teaching me the importance of analytical thinking, and creative approaches to finding solutions.
Initiating on this career transition into the tech industry has been a journey filled with many highs and lows. I faced imposter syndrome, often feeling my skills didn't match up to other developers. I found myself coding for 11-12 hours a day, which led to burnout. Realising the need for balance, I started observing how experienced developers broke down projects and applied this logic to my freelance work.
