We
have some very exciting news to share! We are in the process of putting together a brand new
collection of yard games that will be able to be borrowed from the library,
beginning in just a few weeks. Some of the games that will be available include: Bocce, Croquet, Giant Connect Four, Giant Jenga, Giant Checkers, Molkky, Ring Toss, Kan Jam, Giant Yardzee, and more! If you have a favorite yard game you would like us to add, please let us know in the next week and we will consider it. These items will have a check out loan period of one week.*We've just added Spike Ball and Bottle Bash for those of you who asked about the games last week during our Game-A-Palooza!*

Reading Colors Your World Summer Reading Programs
|
Registration for our Reading Colors Your World Summer Reading Programs begins this week! We're doing things a bit differently this year, so check it out:
Preschoolers:
Preschoolers can complete a fun Activity Log and earn colorful stickers and a prize! Stop in at the library to register for this program and to check out our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.
Students Entering Grades K-6:
Register online and then stop in at the library to pick up your Reading Colors Your World Bingo game sheet. Complete the tasks in any single color row to earn prizes.
Students Entering Grades 7-12:
Register online and then log the books you have been reading for the chance to win a gift card.
Adults:
Stop into the library, register at the desk, and pick up your adult summer reading program bag. Inside you will find a few Reading Colors Your World Bingo game sheets. Complete all the tasks in a single color row on any game sheet for the chance to win a gift card.

Sunflower String Art Fundraiser -- New Date
|
We've postponed our Sunflower String Art Fundraiser until Thursday, July 15, at 6:30 pm! If you're interested in this virtual fundraiser ($45, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Richmond Memorial Library), email [email protected]. The registration deadline is June 30. You must be able to pick up materials at the library the week prior to the program.

Digital Subscription to The New York Times

We
are happy to share that we've been able to purchase a one year
subscription to the digital edition of The New York Times. For
additional information about how to view the newspaper, see our website,

We have been adding to our "Library of Things," or collections of non-traditional circulating items! Whether you're looking to add a bit of
privacy to an upcoming meeting or interview (especially if you're
working remotely) or you're simply in need of a good night's sleep,
you're going to want to check out our new white noise machines.
Available for a three week check out period, these white noise machines play
24 curated sleep sounds including 9 robust white noise options, 8 sleep
songs, and 7 nature sounds. If you're using the white noise machine for
sleep, there is an optional sleep timer setting. These white noise machines can be picked up at the Circulation Desk.

Young Chefs Dinner Program
|
Katie from Food Explorers will be joining us on Zoom on Wednesday, June 30, at 5:30 pm to teach kids (ages 8 and up) how to make Greek quesadillas with a tzatziki sauce! Registration is required.

Attention teens! Stop into the library between June 28 and July 9 for a small prize after you register your first book on
the summer reading Google form and, while you're here, take a guess at counting the
chocolate rainbow! The person who guesses the closet to the actual amount will win a gift card to River Bend Books in Glastonbury.

Upcoming Adult and Teen Programs...

The Richmond Memorial Library building is now open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 AM to 6 PM, Fridays 10 AM to 4 PM, and Summer Saturdays, 10 AM to 1 PM. Curbside pickup services are also available during these times.
We have started to and will continue to host virtual programs for all age groups. Additional information will be found on our website and social media pages, including video tutorials on how to access the virtual formats these programs will be offered in. Monday, July 12 at 6 pm, Beautiful World of Butterflies: Butterflies may be beautiful, but that's not why they're important! Learn about the residents of the Milwaukee Public Museum's Butterfly Vivarium while we get up close and personal with these fascinating animals. This is a virtual program, held on Zoom. Thursday, July 22 from 6:30-8 pm, Ancient Alcohol After Hours: Drinking
together has been a tradition for thousands of years, and we have found
a way to keep that tradition alive! Grab your favorite beverage, log
on, and let us be your designated driver as you virtually explore how
our ancestors partied like it was 5000 BCE. Participants will follow
along as we check out one of the most popular ancient Greek drinking
games (you should definitely try this at home), zoom in on one of the
world’s oldest wine jars, learn about a Mesopotamian queen who drank her
beer out of a straw, and learn all about the science that went into
recreating the beverage served at the funerary feast hosted by King
Midas. All the while you will be encouraged to participate in fun and
interactive games that test your knowledge and invite you to share some
of your most memorable drinking stories. Presented in partnership with
Philly Loves Beer, this tour will be led by a mix of both history and
beer experts. Email [email protected] to register.Thursday, July 29 at 6:30 pm, Famous French Apple Tart: A Virtual Baking Program: Adults
and teens, pick up a baking kit in advance of the program, add a couple
ingredients from home (including a round cake pan), and join The Baking Coach's Lisa Basini on Zoom
for a virtual baking program! Lisa will also share the history behind
this amazing apple tart. Limit 24 participants. Email
