Kylie Jenner's new (old) pout is here to stay. Just over a week after debuting a set of filler-free lips on Instagram—a makeunder announcement that was confirmed in the comments after followers observed the above-neck shift—Jenner was seen out in New York last night with a simple swipe of pink lipgloss adorning an otherwise downplayed mouth.
Though Jenner's initial all-natural announcement came with its fair share of fanfare and positive reinforcement, it also came with a filter, and on the relatively controlled terms of her own social media. Seeing the transformation in the wild is an entirely different situation. And with the simplified lip came a utilitarian, slicked-back raven knot (all the better to pull focus to a luminous complexion brushed in bronzer) and a leg moment which culminated in a pair of black patent boots—quite a reasonable (dare we say down-to-earth) ensemble for strutting around the city that never sleeps. But it was undoubtedly the absence of the iconic above-neck element on which Jenner built an entire beauty empire that made the moment a memorable one. Far from a simple stunt, it seems Jenner is coming into her own and moving forward by taking a few beauty-centric steps back.
