Margaret Haldane was born on 22 July 1657.1 She was the daughter of Mungo Haldane, 13th of Gleneagles and Anne Grant.1 She married Sir Patrick Murray of Ochtertyre, 2nd Bt., son of Sir William Murray of Ochtertyre, 1st Bt. and Isabel Oliphant, on 15 February 1681 at Gleneagles, ScotlandG.1 She died on 17 February 1722 at age 64.1

Mungo Haldane, 13th of Gleneagles was the son of Sir John Haldane, 11th of Gleneagles and Margaret Fraser.2 He married, firstly, Anne Grant, daughter of John Grant of Lurg.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Gray, daughter of James Gray of Balgarno.1 He died in May 1685.1
He gained the rank of officer in the Earl of Perth's troop of horse, on the raising of National Militia.1 On 16 October 1673 he had a charter of novodamus of his lands in Perthshire, Stirlingshire and Dunbartonshire (excluding Lanrick.)1 He was Commissioner of Supply for Stirlingshire and Perthshire in 1678.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) between 1681 and 1685.1
