Q MY computer has been playing up so I decided to use the recovery disc to do a partial clean up. I managed to keep most of my files but I keep getting the little window that tells me this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. The heading in this window is Tsystray.

A THE program causing the error is part of RealJukebox and RealOne Player but not an important part. To prevent it from running, choose Run on the Start menu, type msconfig and press Enter. Switch to the Startup tab of the window that appears and find Tsystray in the list. Remove the checkmark beside it and click OK.

Q WHEN I start my computer this pops up: "C:\windows\ale vir.exe infected with W32 Fun love 4099 alevir.exe Access to the specified device, path, or file denied. Desktop could not load or run 'alevir exe' specified in the WIN.INI File. Make sure this file exists on your computer or remove the reference to this." I don't know how to do this.

A Your computer has a virus named W32.HLL W.Winevar/W32.Funlove.4099 and it's not easy to get rid of by hand. If you visit www.sarc.com, you'll see it listed in the Removal Tools section (or by clicking the Expanded Tools List link) and you can download a program that should fix it. And, as I say weekly, install anti-virus software such as the free AVG Anti-Virus from www.grisoft.com.

Q WE have Windows XP but when we log on we get an error message saying RUNDLL, error loading NvQTWK, specified module could not be found. Can you help?

A THE NvQTwk is a utility provided with Nvidia graphics cards. The simplest solution is to disable the utility. Choose Run from the Start menu, type msconfig and press Enter. Switch to the Startup tab of the window that appears and look for line beginning 'RUNDLL. EXE NvQTwk' in the Command column. Remove the checkmark on that line and click OK.

Q AFTER the computer has been online for about two hours and I am on another project, it disconnects from the internet and I have to log-on again. Is there any way I can prevent this? I am paying for Freeserve Anytime.

A THIS is one of the catches to the Anytime accounts (and not just Freeserve). They're not intended to be always-on connections in the same way as ADSL and other broadband ones. The firms enforce this by disconnecting users after a set period. Two hours is fairly normal. It should be in terms and conditions.
