Terrapin's "All American" Oat Pale Ale is a farm-to-bottle collaboration made with a bold grist: Flaked oats and crystal malt from Briess; 2-Row Base Malt from Epiphany Craft Malt rounded out with generous helpings of Columbus, Chinook, Azacca and Centennial hops grown by Roy Farms. This is another pale ale that pushes the boundaries of the style at 6.5% abv and 45 IBUs. Our tasters admired the ingredients, but found the sum of the parts greater than the whole.

"Nice hop aroma," said Gregg Glaser of Yankee Brew News. "Not a big hop nose, but nice."

"Subtle hops," commented Mark Tambascio, owner of the My Place beer bar. "It's a good summer beer, but pretty light for a pale ale, falls somewhere between a blonde and a pale."

"Lemon on the nose," said beer retailer Kelsey Bagels. "The oats aren't notable, but it's a good beer overall, very drinkable."

"There is an element of silkiness there, perhaps from the oats," noted homebrewer Andy Tipler. "It's good."

"If you classify it as a pale ale, I would call it a sort of thin-bodied West Coast pale," said brewer John Watson, "but it's a good one."
