Syamsuri Firdaus, from Bima-NTB won the 1st place in the Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran in Turkey.
Syamsuri Firdaus, a student of Arabic Literature at the University of Indonesia (UI) 2017 from Bima-NTB won the 7th International Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) in Istanbul, Turkey on Sunday (May 26, 2019).
The award for Syamsuri was handed over directly by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The awarding witnessed by the invitation of the Turkish Ministry of Religion, the deputy consulate general of friendly countries including the Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul represented by PF Pensosbud, Iwan Wijaya M.
Syamsuri's participation received direct guidance from Ali Sibromalisi, Deputy Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia who accompanied him since he was in Turkey. The event organized by the World Association for Al-Azhar Graduates (WAAG) collaborates with the Turkish government, followed by 68 Islamic countries in the Middle East and Europe, including Egypt and Libya.
In the event, Syamsuri, who won the 1st place in the National MTQ Children category, had the opportunity to be invited directly by the high priest of Sultan Ahmed Mosque in Istanbul to recite in front of the congregation after the Asr prayer. The finalists are entitled to get Umrah tickets provided by the committee and some money as awards.
The student born in 1999 was born as the first child, Syamsuri's father works as a farm laborer, and his mother works as a brick-making coolie.
