NBA launches Africa channel on YouTube.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) has announced to launch a YouTube channel dedicated to fans from sub-Saharan Africa.
For the remainder of the 2018/19 season, NBA Africa will feature two live games per week including the end of season play-offs and finals. The channel will also celebrate the impact of African players in the NBA and the growing levels of basketball participation in Africa.
The channel will also collaborate with Africa-based YouTube creators, feature a weekly magazine show and host archived programming as well.
Speaking about the new channel, Amadou Gallo Fall, NBA Vice President and Managing Director for Africa, said: "The NBA Africa YouTube channel is yet another important milestone for the NBA in Africa and will allow more fans to access our games, live and on demand, across the continent," said
Dayo Olopade, Manager of YouTube partnerships in Africa, added: "We hope NBA fans on the continent enjoy watching the live games and commentaries on YouTube."
The NBA and YouTube have shared a long history of collaboration. The NBA became the first professional sports league to partner with YouTube in 2005 and the channel has generated more than 5.4 billion views in total since its inception.
