Molefane launches I Shall Rise volume 2 products.

Boitumelo Molefane known as Boca Molf has launched I Shall Rise volume 2, a specialised exercise book and journal aimed at nurturing children.

Launched in Maun recently, the exercise book and a journal is part of Molefane's mentorship programme aimed at improving school results in remote areas.

The books, she said, targeted school going children to enhance their accountability.

Speaking at the launch, Molefane said overcoming her life challenges had made her realise the importance of writing down one's daily experiences.

She said when she was at her lowest, a pen and a paper became her consolation and a way of confronting her challenges instead of giving up.

'Before I started I was conflicted whether to rise up and serve people or to give up,' she said, adding that when she started the I Shall Rise Movement, she had nothing in terms of resources, 'but once I took a step everything fell into place and the project came through.'

She said she realised the need to help children to be empowered, hence she came up with the Volume 2 project, which also promotes keeping journals among children.

Molefane therefore said it was important to nurture young people to learn to express their experiences in writing as early as primary level, which would bear rewards in their adult lives.

She said keeping a journal helped her realise her potential as an author and poet who has a published book I Shall Rise and poetry audio files.

'I have received positive feedback from people.

Some say the book has challenged them to confront their problems while some say it is like a mirror to their lives,' she said.

The exercise book on the other hand has a section where parents and teachers can comment on their children's work, which promotes communication and accountability.

It also has inspirational quotes.

Molefane said the piloting of the project had started at Ngware Primary School in the Kweneng District with mentoring and the two products would be offered to students for free and later availed in the market.

The guest speaker, Hanna Lecha of Leadership Nurturing said Molefane had infused her expertise as a development strategist to come up with the part two project, which aims to address the gap in implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects.

Lecha said some good projects failed due to lack of proper implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

She noted that Molefane's part two project aimed to provide mentorship and psycho-social support to students in remote areas to establish how their environment affected them and their academic performance.

Lecha said a journal was a useful tool, which helped one to organise thoughts, introspect, evaluate and plan.
