Lynx deaths zoo vows to reopen.
A ZOO where two lynx died within days of each other is to reopen this weekend.
Borth Wild Animal Kingdom has been closed ever since Lillith, a 17-month-old female lynx, escaped from the family-run attraction in late October.
After an extensive search and attempts to capture her safely, Lillith was shot dead by marksmen when she was deemed to pose a risk to the public after moving to a more populated area.
Days later it was confirmed that another lynx, Nilly, was strangled to death by accident when zookeepers attempted to move her out of her enclosure.
Despite calls for the Ceredigion zoo to be closed down following the two deaths, the attraction insists that it is ready to reopen on Saturday following a "full inspection".
The zoo's owners are adamant that, after being closed for a month, they have carried out the necessary work to bring the zoo up to standard, having previously admitted that they were contending with "many serious issues".
Ceredigion Council carried out a four-day inspection and, according to the owners, went over everything with a "fine-tooth comb", pointing out issues that the attraction needed to address.
"It will be nice to see people walking around the zoo enjoying themselves again," said the zoo's co-owner Dean Tweedy.
"A lot of people have worked really hard here - last weekend we had about 150 people from the local community come and help out to make sure we are in a position to reopen."
