Latter: Your Say - Cash doesn't count.
Byline: TREVOR ADAMSWITH regard to a recent letter (Buying Up Ballot, 2.8.07), Geoffrey Bulmer is not happy with police report into the alleged cash for honours issue, despite the seriousness with which the police treated this matter. "No smoke without fire" is his preferred option and I have no doubt that some people will go along with him.
While I agree that an awful lot of money is spent on elections, it does not necessarily guarantee success. Most are lost by office holders rather than won by the opposition.
His statement that David Cameron would be the next Prime Minister in the event of a snap election beggars belief. My prediction is that David Cameron will never be Prime Minister and I suspect there is a good chance he will not be the Tory leader for much longer because he is more "Blair" than Blair and the real Tories (that is the ones who one time had a policy) do not like him.
I like reading Mr Bulmer's letters because he is one of the few old Tribunites left. While they stick in the past, their letters are "value for money" but his are usually more thoroughly thought out than this one.
