The League joined the United Nations Foundation, the Open Society Institute and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund as an alliance partner in The People Speak. America Debates its Role in the World, a national education effort to stimulate a dialogue about U.S. foreign policy. League staff successfully facilitated 22 The People Speak events cosponsored by Leagues nationwide in the fall of 2003. Topics included the U.S. role in the UN, balancing national security and civil liberties, and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFI-A) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
