Four Sinclair Markets Stick With The Peacock.
There will be no "great affiliation switch" in four locales where Sinclair Broadcast Group operates television stations.
The company seeking to merge with Tribune Media has just agreed to a multi-year deal that keeps NBC affiliations in place at three O&Os, along with a Silver State property owned by partner Cunningham Broadcasting Group.
Keeping their NBC affiliations are KSNV-3 in Las Vegas; WJAC-6 in Johnstown, Pa.; and WTOV-9 in the Steubenville-Weirton, W. Va., market.
Also getting a renewal deal is the Sinclair-managed KRNV-4 in Reno, Nev.
Sinclair provides sales and other services to KRNV under a joint sales agreement.
"We are pleased to renew our agreements with NBC, a longtime partner and provider of some of broadcast television's most popular entertainment, news and sports programming," said Barry Faber, Sinclair's EVP for Distribution and Network Relations. "The renewals reflect the value of the symbiotic relationship between NBC's programming and the local news and syndicated content we provide."
"We are happy to be renewing our affiliation with Sinclair and Cunningham in these four markets and look forward to continued collaboration to provide high quality NBC broadcast content to complement each station's local news and programming," said Jean Dietze, President of Affiliate Relations for NBC Broadcasting.
The companies have previously agreed to TV Everywhere digital rights and a framework for Sinclair's NBC affiliated stations to opt into OTT deals.
