Bishkek city court rules to give back major-general rank to ex-Defense Minister accused of power abuse.

Bishkek city court partially overruled the judgment of the lower-instance court against former Minister of Defense of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Omuraliyev accused of abuse of power.

Pervomaisky district court in Bishkek found him guilty of power abuse, fined 5 million soms and deprived of his the military rank of the major general.

Bishkek city court decided to return the military rank to Omuraliyev taking into account the personality of Omuraliyev, his combat and state awards.

Omuraliyev, as an ex-Defense Minister, is accused of making illegal decision on allocation of 5 million som loan to the business entity, whereas those funds were meant for other purposes.
