Bao-Wierzbicki (B-W) criterion [14] is selected as the failure criterion because such criterion can describe the failure onset at different stress
triaxiality with good accuracy and reduced computational efforts.
The Hooputra's ductile fracture criterion is based on Kolmogorov's mathematical model [15], and represents the equivalent strain as a function of the stress
triaxiality. Regarding the non-uniform effect of increasing the equivalent strain, affected by the stress
triaxiality growth, three dependent parameters are considered for the isotropic materials.
In the new ductile fracture criterion, void nucleation is described as a function of the equivalent plastic strain, void growth is a function of the stress
triaxiality and void coalescence is controlled by the normalized maximal shear stress.
This result may be due to the difference in the
triaxiality degree of the stress state along the ligament of each geometry, estimated from finite elements analysis [43].
This critical or failure strain is dependent on a nondimensional plastic strain rate, stress
triaxiality, and temperature.
