The flocculation is a solid-liquid separation process, which consists of adding a
flocculant into the raw water, after which finely divided or dispersed particles are aggregated or agglomerated together to form large particles of such a size (flocs) which settle and cause clarification of the system [4].
PAM is a commonly used
flocculant in wastewater treatment facilities.
In addition to
flocculant dosage, the effects of pH on turbidity and zeta potential were explored at the optimal dosage of 2.0 mg [l.sup.-1].
The dirty process water is pumped into the clarifier as
flocculant is added via an automated system.
100 mL of 0.25% Kaolin suspension was added to 10 ppm of the
flocculant (native and acrylamide grafted gums).
In this study, a hydrophobically modified cationic
flocculant has been prepared by dispersion copolymerization of cationic monomer, hydrophobic monomer and AM in aqueous ammonium sulfate (AS) solution.
Poly-Plus RD also acts as a viscosifier, friction reducer and
flocculant. It also provides some fluid-loss control.
A
flocculant consists of several coagulated particles.
Nalco provides a complete line of polymers for water clarification from anionic to nonionic to cationic charges for every
flocculant need.
Hauling costs were high as well, and organic polymer
flocculant usage was as high as 15lb per dry ton of cake.
