abstricted might lead us to infer; but that the complement of circumstances under which we at every moment exist, awakens simultaneously a great number of thoughts; these it calls into the presence of the mind, either to place them at our disposal, if we find it requisite to employ them, or to make them cooperate in our deliberations by giving them, according to their nature and our habits, an influence, more or less active, on our judgments and consequent acts.
