It has been installed at
Furnace Bridge, near the entrance to Free Wood, and is intended as a gateway feature for an area that already boasts a heritage trail, an outdoor gymnasium, a cycle path and picnic spots.
Bedlington Country Park, which stretches for seven-and-a-half kilometres along the course of the River Blyth, between
Furnace Bridge, Bedlington, and Hartford Hall is described as a "jewel in the crown" for Wansbeck.
Barry Mead, Wansbeck Council's community heritage officer, who is organising the event at
Furnace Bridge, said: "The idea is to clean and expose the surviving stonework so that it can then be properly assessed for conservation.
