Hello and welcome to live coverage of Brighton versus Manchester City at the Amex tonight.

Just under 8,000 Albion supporters will be there to cheer their side on for the visit of Pep Guardiola's men.

The last time home fans were at the Seagulls' ground was back in December when 2,000 saw matches against Southampton and Sheffield United but this is the largest amount of spectators in the ground since before the pandemic began in early 2020.

An unlikely win against table-topping City will draw them level with last year's record points total in the Premier League ahead of their end-of-season clash versus Arsenal on Sunday.

Brighton are without the suspended Lewis Dunk and Neal Maupay and Joel Veltman and Davy Propper are sidelined with respective calf and ankle injuries.

Wing-backs Solly March and Tariq Lamptey are long-term absentees and will not play until next season.

Before the game gets underway at 7pm, tonight's hosts will do a guard of honour for City to pay tribute to the newly crowned Premier League champions.

Man of the match named

Brighton have named Bissouma as their star player today.

What a performance from the 24-year-old.

Now, can they hold on?

Brighton are relentless here. They win the ball back from a City break and Bissouma is fouled by Fernandinho.

He goes into the book for a reckless and cynical foul.

Meanwhile, Jesus is on Bernardo Silva.

Brighton change

Big applause for Alzate who had another strong game tonight.

He makes way for striker Zeqiri. Potter is going for it any why not?!

Strong response

City change

Gundogan has been in the wars today and he cannot continue.

Fernandinho replaces him. The game just simmering down a bit after that crazy opening to the second half.

Half time

The worst possible start but a decent half overall.

The fans clap their players off at half time.

City players are not happy with some of the refereeing decisions but at the break they lead by a goal to nil.

Brighton 0-1 Man City

Added time

A whopping five minutes to be added on following the red card review and Welbeck's injury treatment.

  • Share

Brighton growing in confidence

There have been a number of good perfomances despite going behind so early.

Bissouma and Alzate look very assured in midfield, White has been excellent in defensively, Jahanbakhsh is looking purposeful and direct on the right wing and Moder is coming into the game more.

They still await that big chance but the signs are good with an extra man.

The story so far

Gundogan gave City a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute with a header at the back post.

Within the first 10 minutes the visitors were down to 10-men as Cancelo was sent off for bringing down Welbeck as the last man.

Since then, Brighton have had 55% possession and 4 shots on goal to City's 3. But none of Albion's have been on target.

An intriguing game so far.

Brighton change

And a forced one at that unfortunately.

Welbeck had looked lively but his evening is over and he walks down the tunnel. Not quite sure of what the injury is at present.

Brighton currently down to 10-men as well.

Match taking shape

Naturally with City down to 10-men, Brighton are having a great deal of the ball.

The visitors are happy to hit them on the counter attack and Mahrez and Foden in particular are looking dangerous so far.

Mahrez got the assist for Gundogan and Foden was nearly in on goal but White made a superb sliding challenge to keep him out.

No real clear cut chances for the hosts so far.

City change

Torres makes way for Garcia.

City adding a defensive player to their team after that red card.

Torres scored a hat-trick against Newcastle but his game ends before 15 minutes today.

  • Share

Red card!

Cancelo given his marching orders!

  • Share

Good response

Nice play from Burn down the left. He takes one touch, then another, and finds the onrushing Welbeck who tries to lift the ball over Ederson but it drifts wide.

Offside anyway. Better, though. The atmosphere so far is electric.

City lead

Oh dear. Not the start Brighton would have wanted. Far too easy as well.

Mahrez teases a cross into the box and Gundogan heads it home with ease.

Brighton 0-1 Man City.

A new kit!

Back to stripes!

Welcome back!

A formidable test

City have just been crowned the champions of the Premier League.

A guard of honour will be carried out by Brighton before the game.

Moreover, City's 12 successive away league victories and 23-match unbeaten run away from home in all competitions are both records by a team in England's top four divisions.

  • Share

Table permutations

Ahead of kick-off, Brighton are in 17th place on 38 points.

A point would take them ahead of Burnley and Newcastle on goal difference but Albion would have played a game more.

A win would take them within three points of rivals Crystal Palace. A loss tonight would see them stay where they are.

All to play for!
