STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Anthony Berardi, 82, of Richmond, a former mason worker whose family remembered him as a loving father and grandfather who had a knack for fixing things, died Friday at his son's home in Middletown, N.J.
Born in Brooklyn, he settled in Richmond in the 1960s.
Mr. Berardi was a mason worker with Local 1, retiring as a supervisor in 1976.
During his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening. He also loved to repair statues and was handy with tools.
He was a parishioner of St. Patrick's R.C. Church, Richmond.
His wife, Anna, died in 2001.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph and Anthony; a brother, Jimmy; a sister, Anna DiMaggio; a step-sister, Lena Baldinucci, and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Hanley Funeral Home, New Dorp, with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
